Jupiter's Legacy star Andrew Horton comments on the show's cancellation, writing on social media that he feels "gutted." In early May, Netflix debuted Jupiter's Legacy, the first series to emerge from the streamer's deal with comics icon Mark Millar. Horton starred as Brandon Sampson, the son of legendary hero the Utopian (Josh Duhamel). Jupiter's Legacy explored the conflicts that arise between two generations of heroes, as Brandon tried to live up to his father's legacy while also charting his own path. As season 1 ended on a shocking cliffhanger and had plenty of dangling plotlines, Jupiter's Legacy was perfectly poised to continue onward with a sophomore run.

Unfortunately, that is no longer in the cards. Wednesday night, news broke that Netflix had released the Jupiter's Legacy cast from their contracts, effectively cancelling the series. Millar confirmed the news on social media and reported he would instead help develop a live-action Supercrooks series, which will be set within the same world as Jupiter's Legacy. At the same time, Millar wrote that he's confident Jupiter's Legacy will be revisited at some point in the future, though he did not give specifics.

Following the news of Jupiter's Legacy's cancellation, Horton took to social media to share his thoughts. Posting a picture of himself in his Paragon costume, Horton started his message with, "I'm gutted." He then went on to express his disappointment at how the series has ended and thanked those who helped create the show. His full message and post can be seen down below

"Jupiter's Legacy was a once in a lifetime experience and one I will never forget. I'm sad and sorry that we don't get to continue this journey. I feel as though we had barely scratched the surface with this one, but as the inimitable Jim Carey once said "that's the way the cookie crumbles"

A huge thank you to every single person involved in this titan of a project; we should be incredibly proud of what we created, regardless of the outcome.

Thank you to @netflix for the opportunity.

Thank you to @mrmarkmillar for creating Jupiter's Legacy.

Thank you to Steven DeKnight for taking a chance on a nobody.

Thank you to everyone who has watched the show.

On to the next one."

Jupiter's Legacy season 1 concluded with the revelation that the Utopian's brother Walt (Ben Daniels) was plotting to off the hero and take control of the world. That, along with the lingering teases about Skyfox (Matt Lanter), set up a truly compelling season 2, and it must've been one the cast was excited to dig into. It's unfortunate that Jupiter's Legacy won't get to reach its full potential; as Horton put it, season 1 only really scratched the surface of what lay ahead.

As Supercrooks will be set within the Jupiter's Legacy world, there's always a chance characters like Brandon could make appearances. There haven't been many details about how the two shows will intersect, and that Horton and the rest were let go from their contracts isn't especially promising. Still, Netflix remains interested in creating a proper Millarverse, so anything can happen. Horton's comments on Jupiter's Legacy's end seem to indicate he'd be interested in exploring the world further, so perhaps he'll be willing to sign on for more if the opportunity arises.
