On March 18th of 2022, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was released in theatres and brought a highly talked-about character to the screen: Yuta Okkotsu. Fans loved Yuta so much that many wished he would even become the new face of the franchise.
With the success that came from giving Yuta the spotlight, it would be fitting to have a few OVAs in Jujutsu Kaisen that give spotlights to various characters other than Yuji. Similar shows, like Attack on Titan, found success with OVAs that highlighted other members of the cast.
Maki Zen'in
Born with immense physical power but no cursed techniques, second-year student Maki Zen'in is one of the most unique characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.Â
Maki is one of Jujutsu Kaisen's bravest and most physically imposing characters. Her story with her clan and sister is one that could still be explored even further by the franchise, and an OVA would be the perfect opportunity to showcase more of the behind-the-scenes of the Zen'in sisters. Her relationship with Yuta is also one of the best parts of 0, and seeing them together would also make for a nice OVA.
Panda
Panda, contrary to his name, isn't actually a panda. A cursed corpse given life by the principal of Tokyo Jujutsu High, Panda has been living as a student with Maki and Toge.
Every Tokyo second year is beloved by the fanbase, but Panda has one of the most unique backstories in the series. An OVA with Panda would also allow more time to learn about Panda's great, Principal Masamichi Yaga, who hasn't gotten much time so far in the anime to showcase himself.
Todo Aoi
Todo Aoi, a third-year from the Kyoto branch, is easily the strongest among the Kyoto sorcerers and is one of the most powerful students in the series.
Todo became a fan favorite after his "bonding" with Itadori, and it would be a fun insight into the character to see more of his life outside of Itadori. Currently the tall idol Takada is the object of Todo's affection and seeing Todo go to one of her concerts or even potentially saving her from cursed spirits would make for a fun OVA. It would also be fun to see his unlikely friendship with Itadori blossom.
Nobara Kugisaki
The third member of the Tokyo first years, Nobara's straw doll technique lets her bond her cursed technique to other people and objects.
Nobara is already a major character, but she gets slightly less spotlight than the other two members of the first-year trio, and she's rarely seen without the other members of the main group. Time with Nobara by herself or with Maki and other friends would be a breath of fresh air for fans.
Megumi Fushiguro
First-year Megumi's Ten Shadows Technique is one of the most powerful in the series. The ability is so great that it even drew the interest of Sukuna himself.
Jujutsu Kaisen is known for being an anime with high-quality animation, and an original battle with Megumi's shadow beasts would give directors and animators lots of fun and unique opportunities. Any story exploring Megumi's relationship with his friends would be a good way to add a softer side to the character, and a climactic fight at the end could make it even better.
Mahito
Mahito is the primary antagonist of season 1 and one of the most powerful special grade curses in the series, with the ability to warp the shape of a person's soul.
Most great OVAs choose to focus on heroes, but a look into the antagonist's world wouldn't be outside the norm of Jujutsu Kaisen. Mahito and his friends both get plenty of POV dialogue in the story and have their own story explored a bit. Any adventure with Mahito, Hanami, and Jogo would be an interesting story for an OVA episode.
Gojo Satoru
The strongest Jujutsu sorcerer, Satoru Gojo, also serves as the primary teacher of the Tokyo Jujutsu High students. Due to Gojo being extremely overpowered, a fight might not be the best way to go for an OVA with him.
A Gojo OVA could feature his adventures with his coworker and unlikely friend, Nanami (one of the best roles by the famous voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda.) Alternatively, the story could learn from Attack on Titan's "A Choice With No Regrets" and focus on his past as AoT did with Levi. Fans already learned from 0 that Gojo and Geto share a history, and that could be further explored in an OVA.
Yuta Okkotsu
The star of one of the greatest anime movies of all time, Yuta Okkotsu is perhaps the only character that would arguably be a better protagonist for the story than Yuji.
Much of Yuta's backstory is already given in 0. This leaves room for an OVA that focuses on his adventures between 0 and his return to the main story of Jujutsu Kaisen. This would likely mean his OVA would be about his training with the powerful sorcerer Miguel. Miguel and Yuta's adventures could make for an incredible fight scene and a great story.
