Warning: SPOILERS for Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 201 and Fire Force season twoA massive twist that's breathing new life in Jujutsu Kaisen's Culling Game arc is actually taken from one of Fire Force's most disturbing mysteries. Since many fans are celebrating this latest development in Jujutsu Kaisen, their positive reactions just prove how underrated Fire Force is when compared to other more established and popular manga and anime.

In the second season of the Fire Force anime, Shinra and his fellow comrades from company eight discover that an Adolla Burst user known only as the woman in black converted herself into a living energy source to save a place known as the Oasis by encasing herself in her self-made Tabernacle. Since the Tabernacle shares a shocking resemblance to the thermal-powered generator Amaterasu, Shinra concludes that Amaterasu must be powered by an Adolla Burst user against their will who understandably resents humanity as a result.

In chapters 200 and 201 of Jujutsu Kaisen by Gege Akutami, the villain Kenjaku plants the idea in the minds of top U.S. government officials that the cursed energy that jujutsu sorcerers wield can be repurposed to replace unclean energy such as oil and coal to power the U.S more efficiently and safely. This, however, requires capturing and experimenting on jujutsu sorcerers who are from Japan.

Jujutsu Kaisen is Using Fire Force to Save the Culling Game

The US considers capturing jujutsu sorcerers to use their cursed energy to power the United States in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 201

Although not yet proven in the anime, the fact that Fire Force's heroes believe that Japan could be using a person's abilities to fuel a generator that powers Tokyo is enough to prove that Jujutsu Kaisen was either directly influenced by Fire Force or just uses the same concept for its own story. Regardless, the amount of importance that Jujutsu Kaisen is placing on this plot twist justifies Fire Force as an important series that should be more popular, especially with Jujutsu Kaisen fans.

The fact that Jujutsu Kaisen's Culling Game has been struggling to really grip readers enough to continue reading further underscores this twist's importance.

Even though Jujutsu Kaisen really built up the Culling Game to be a major event that could rival Shibuya, it failed to start off strong enough to the point where some readers began to question why it was even happening in the first place. It wasn't until the lives of innocents were put at risk during Yuta's opening battle in Jujutsu Kaisen's Culling Game that readers found themselves getting invested in what had originally been lacking. This oomph, however, was short-lived because the following three battles were between completely new villains and heroes who readers didn't know enough about to care. But now, thanks to this latest twist that was clearly inspired a great deal by Fire Force, the Culling Game has finally gotten interesting again.

Hopefully, the passion for Fire Force will be reignited once more when its third season finally drops sometime next year. Unfortunately, Jujutsu Kaisen fans who gave up on Fire Force before the second season will never know just how much this latest twist was inspired by Fire Force. And it's unlikely that Fire Force will get its own movie, either, even though Jujutsu Kaisen did after only one season airing. Regardless, it's still innovative that not only did Fire Force present the possibility that Tokyo is powered by a person but that another being actually chose to sacrifice herself by converting herself into a power source. If the latter happens in Jujutsu Kaisen, then there will be no doubt how much Fire Force inspired Gege Akutami's story.
