With Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe adding another big-name actor to its already impressive roster, one fan artist imagines Jude Law as superhero Mar-Vell ahead of 2019's Captain Marvel.

Brie Larson will be flying onto everyone's screens as the star-spangled heroine Captain Marvel, but it looks like her solo film is heading back to the comics in a major way. Law is expected to play Dr. Walter Lawson, which would put him as the Captain Marvel predecessor to Larson's Carol Danvers. Under the alias Mar-Vell, fans full expect Law's character to hand the baton of Kree technology over to Danvers for her origin movie.

However, it just wouldn't be a superhero casting without fan artist BossLogic giving everyone their own rendition of what the big Hollywood star could look like suited up. This time, it is Law's turn to get the BossLogic treatment and what he might look like as Mar-Vell (see the artwork below).

Worked on Mar-vell for some fun today, I heard he was confirmed for @captainmarvel (Jude law will be playing) can't wait to see him pass the torch over to @brielarson pic.twitter.com/VCrkxw5s6u— BossLogic (@Bosslogic) November 23, 2017

Going with the classic Mar-Vell look from his debut in the Silver Age of comics, BossLogic's rendition looks like it has been pulled directly from the page of a '70s story arc. Clearly sticking with the cosmic theme of Mar-Vell's origin, BossLogic channels the outer space setting of a more cosmic MCU. Perhaps the only thing wrong with the picture is that beneath the flowing hair and superhero mask, would you even be able to tell that it is Jude Law in the spandex?

As the first Mar-Vell, Lawson will surely be on hand to help Danvers get ahold of her newfound power. While it is unknown how much of a role Law will have to play, Captain Marvel could open the door for the character's return. Seeing as the film is set in the 1990s, and with Danvers expected to appear in Avengers 4 in the present day MCU, there are big questions to answer concerning where both Danvers and Lawson have been for the past two decades.

The MCU is certainly delivering Kevin Feige's promise to add more A-list talent to its books. Alongside recent additions Michael Keaton, Angela Bassett, and Michelle Pfeiffer, Law's CV with movies like Sherlock Holmes and Cold Mountain - as well as an upcoming role in the Fantastic Beasts franchise - certainly fits the bill. Joining Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, and a possible return for Hayley Atwell, Law fits in comfortably among the other big names when Captain Marvel takes flight in 2019. Either way, Captain Marvel is expected to play a large part in the epic conclusion of Marvel's Phase 3 and set the wheels in motion for a possible Phase 4 and beyond.
