Josh Brolin has signed on for Amazon's western TV show drama Outer Range, with Brad Pitt producing. Once upon a time, it was considered something of a downgrade for an A-list movie star to sign on for a TV series. However, in the age of Peak TV, it seems like pretty much every big name in Hollywood is getting into television, from Hollywood legends like Harrison Ford to Marvel Cinematic Universe alumni Chris Evans. Even Thanos himself is making the transition to the small screen for the first time in more than fifteen years.

The Wrap is reporting Brolin has signed on for Outer Range, with Pitt backing the western TV show through his Plan B Entertainment banner. The series is part of the label's overall deal with Amazon that was signed and put into effect last month. Brolin will also executive produce alongside the show's writer, Brian Watkins, first-time series producer Zev Borow, and Heather Rae of Frozen River fame.

In addition to his roles as Thanos from the MCU and Cable in Deadpool 2, Brolin has a long and decorated history of collaborations with directors like the Coen Brothers, Denis Villeneuve, and Oliver Stone under his belt. He appeared in a handful of shows back in the 1980s and '90s following his screen debut in The Goonies, but hasn't had a regular TV role since he anchored the political drama Mister Sterling in 2003. Brolin is also slated to reprise his role as Thanos in animated form for Marvel's What If?... TV series when it streams on Disney+ in 2021. Between Brolin starring and Pitt producing, Outer Range already has the makings of a potential success for Amazon to go with their recent hits like The Boys and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
