Josh Brolin, who plays Thanos in the MCU, has confirmed that the actor will share at least one scene with Captain Marvel star Brie Larson. As Larson's character isn't expected to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, there's a strong chance the scene will take place in Avengers 4.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting Captain Marvel's introduction to the MCU. Though there has been much confusion over whether or not Carol Danvers will appear in Avengers: Infinity War prior to the release of Captain Marvel in 2019, it's been repeatedly stated that Captain Marvel will not be in Infinity War, which means fans will have to wait for Avengers 4 to see Captain Marvel join forces with Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

In a set interview with Total Film Magazine, Josh Brolin discussed his role as Thanos and let a slip a number of actors that he's shared scenes. The list includes Brie Larson. The mention of Larson confirms that the Mad Titan will cross paths with Captain Marvel. Brolin also mentions Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man), Don Cheadle (War Machine), and Chris Hemsworth (Thor). This doesn't necessarily mean that all of these characters will be in the same scene with Captain Marvel; it could just mean that Thanos will meet each character at some point, either in Infinity War or in Avengers 4:

I thought, 'What the [frick] am I doing here?' Because you're in a onesie, man. You've got to walk around in a onesie and imagine yourself as an actor with some impact. It starts messing with your head. I'm Josh, who's got dots on him, and a onesie, and a helmet can, and I've got Scarlett right there, and I've got Brie, and Don Cheadle, and Hemsworth, and Chris Evans, and Downey...I'm sitting there and I'm looking like I look, which is not 700lb and purple and eight feet tall. I mean, I'm feeling about as far from Jason Statham as one can feel at that moment, and yet I'm acting like I feel 10 times what Jason Statham is. I'm the man!

Though the scene is most likely in Avengers 4, some fans believe that Captain Marvel could still appear in Infinity War as a last-minute cameo in a post-credits scene that could set up her arrival. As Thanos is expected to be the main villain in Avengers 4, it's not surprising that he'll eventually meet Captain Marvel. What fans may be interested to see is how her unprecedented power level will come into play if the two come to blows.

The context of the meeting is also difficult to nail down, as both the plot and the name of the film has yet to be revealed. Numerous set photos of characters in older costumes and previous set locations indicate that Avengers 4 may be a time travel film. It's been speculated that the Avengers may be working together to either undo the events of Infinity War, or Thanos is traveling through the timestream to complete his collection of Infinity Stones and assemble the Infinity Gauntlet.
