Kang the Conqueror actor Jonathan Majors has been dropped by his manager due to the actor's arrest over assault allegations, which puts his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in doubt. Majors joined the MCU with the Disney+ series Loki (2021). The actor played the character known as He Who Remains, who was revealed to be a variant of the MCU's new main villain, Kang the Conqueror. Majors then returned as Kang in this year's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, with both of the film's post-credit scenes setting up his return as different versions of Kang in other MCU projects. However, Majors' arrest raises doubts about his MCU future.

Deadline reported that Majors has been dropped by talent management company, Entertainment 360. Despite the delicate situation, Marvel is currently not talking about recasting Kang. The report claims that, at this moment, there have been "zero conversations" about recasting Majors' Kang role with another actor in the MCU. Given the severity of the allegations against the actor, should Majors be found guilty, Marvel may be forced to recast the role or adjust their plans, as Kang is the most important role in the MCU for the next few years.

What Could Kang The Conqueror's MCU Future Be If Jonathan Majors Gets Replaced?

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania's first post-credits scene introduced the Council of Kangs, a multiversal team that is made up of thousands of Kang variants from different universes. Not all the versions of Kang seen in the scene looked like Majors, with the multiverse allowing Marvel Studios an easy explanation for the recast should Majors' legal situation escalate.

Kang's arc in the MCU is looking at a conclusion with the next two Avengers movies — The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars — which are currently set to be released in 2025 and 2026. While Kang was seemingly killed by Scott Lang at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, it is hard to believe that he is really gone. A version of a comic book storyline which saw Kang crash-land in the past and assume a new identity to regroup after losing to the Avengers might be in play here. This looks to be a possibility, especially since the identity Kang assumed in the comics, Victor Timely, was shown in the movie's second post-credits scene.

As the MCU's multiverse was opened up by Majors' He Who Remains in Loki season 1, it is somewhat poetic that the main Kang could be appearing in Loki season 2 under the Victor Timely alias, as was teased in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Kang is the new Thanos, and as such, it will take a wide array of heroes to stop the villain and his variants from the Council of Kangs. Rumors around Avengers: Secret Wars point to heroes from all over Marvel's live-action history, not just the MCU, assembling. A new Avengers team could be formed in The Kang Dynasty to defeat the villain.
