Warning! Spoilers for X-Men: Hellfire Gala by Marvel Comics

Jon Hamm has finally joined the X-Men universe, not by taking on a role in an upcoming film, but by visiting Krakoa in the comics. In the second annual Hellfire Gala event, the actor, who was originally tapped to play Mr. Sinister in the New Mutants film, makes a surprise appearance as one of the celebrities celebrating mutant culture in the X-Men's home.

After Emmy and Golden Globe-winning performances as Don Draper on Mad Men, Jon Hamm cemented himself as an A-list, fan-favorite actor. He later appeared in Baby Driver, Tag, and recently co-starred in Top Gun: Maverick alongside Tom Cruise as Vice Admiral Beau "Cyclone" Simpson. However, Hamm, who's an admitted fan of comic books, came very close to portraying Mr. Sinister in the 2020 film New Mutants. Hamm nearly played the X-Men villain, revealing he was in talks to bring the mutant to life in a post-credit scene that never happened. A few years later, Hamm is finally officially making his debut with the X-Men.

In X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1 by Gerry Duggan, Kris Anka, Russell Dauterman, Matteo Lolli, CF Villain, Rain Beredo, Frank Martin, Matt Milla, Matthew Wilson, VC's Cory Petit, Tom Muller, and Jay Bowen from Marvel Comics, heroes and villains gather on Krakoa to celebrate mutant culture while wearing their best high-fashion outfits. Among the celebrities revealed to take place in the festivities is Jon Hamm, who causes quite a stir among the mutants.

X-Men Marvel Comic Jon Hamm

Emma Frost seems to have a personal relationship with Jon Hamm, calling him "Jonathan" while kissing the actor on the cheek. The moment is quite meta, as the actress who played Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class, January Jones, played Hamm's TV wife on Mad Men. Even Jean Grey admits that Hamm is one of her "hall passes" as she dances with the actor while directing Frost's attention to Cyclops so they can deal with bigger matters.

Seeing Jon Hamm show up during the Hellfire Gala is certainly a surprise, with the cameo being made funnier by the fact he came awfully close to playing Mr. Sinister in the New Mutants film. Of course, there's still a chance Hamm could be recruited to the X-Men on the big screen in the MCU's upcoming adaptation of the mutants, but for now, he'll join the Marvel Universe in the most unexpected way: alongside the heroes on Krakoa. Readers can see Jon Hamm making his X-Men debut in X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1 by Marvel Comics, which is in comic book stores now.
