Days after The Weinstein Company released a statement saying that they still owned the rights to Sin City 2 comes news from Moviehole that negotiations have started up again with Angelina Jolie to star as Ava in the "A Dame To Kill For" segment of the movie.
Moviehole is quoting a "rather high profile producer friend" who says that Jolie is in "serious talks" for the sequel. Jolie's name has been mentioned in conjunction with the role since the release of the first film and many believed that she had already met with Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller. However, things went quiet as the sequel languished at the bottom of Rodriguez's to-do list and the matter was forgotten.
The report also states that although the Weinstein's haven't lost rights to the sequel - they could if production doesn't begin soon. The news story during the week just might have been the impetus that the Weinstein' need in order to get the film to the big screen.
If Angelina Jolie does sign up to the film (she is only in negotiations) then she may join returning cast members Rosario Dawson, Clive Owen and the great Mickey Rourke - if the Oscar nominated star isn't too busy to return (he was pretty damn awesome in the original).
Sin City 2 is moving along and it looks like we just might see it after all. More news when we get it.
