The debut issue of the series from writer Kami Garcia and artists Mike Mayhew, Mico Suayan and Jason Badower pulled no punches itself. This new rendition of the Joker/Harley dynamic is based not in love, and not quite obsession, but a desire for revenge. After the mysterious serial killer murdered Harleen's roommate years earlier before dropping off the map, she has been waiting. Now that he's back and killing, she's been called in to find him when nobody else in Gotham can.
