Jolyne Kujo, the main character of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, has a powerful ability provided by her Stand, Stone Ocean. The powers of Stone Ocean are initially unclear, but prove to be extremely versatile. At its core, Stone Ocean provides Jolyne the ability to unravel her body into a single thread, but there are many different ways in which this power can be used.

Stone Ocean is the sixth part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, and like the previous parts, stars a new member of the Joestar family—in this case the first female JoJo's protagonist Jolyne. Like the previous three parts, Stone Ocean features battles between individuals with Stands, magical servants which each have their own unique powers. In Stone Ocean, individuals gain Stands through a locket passed down from Jolyne's father Jotaro. Due to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's copyright issues, Jolyne's stand is known as Stone Free in the original Japanese version, after the Jimi Hendrix song, but renamed Stone Ocean in the English translation.

The primary ability of Stone Ocean is that it allows Jolyne to unravel her body into a thin thread. The unraveling usually starts at Jolyne's fingers, but can extend to up to 70% of her body. The string is hard for others to see, but able to touch and damage both objects and other Stands, as an extension of Jolyne's muscles. Jolyne can also weave her string together to create a stronger rope. She can instantly retract the string, or even cut it off at harm to herself.

Stone Ocean also has a more offensive ability. If Jolyne concentrates her string into a body within 2 meters of her, it can form a muscular humanoid who can physically pummel her opponent, similar to Jolyne's father Jotaro's Stand Star Platinum. Jolyne uses this ability to defeat Gwess in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean episode 2. When the string is compacted, it is extremely strong, able to withstand bullets and deliver an impact similar to a small meteor.

Jolyne's string can also convey sound and vibrations. This allows for her to eavesdrop on conversations far from her. This is the first ability Jolyne uses, overhearing the guards abusing Ermes in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean episode 1, before she even knows what powers she has. In the world of Green Dolphin Street Jail, information is power, so this part of Jolyne's Stand powers could be just as crucial as her combat ability.

The Stand battles in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure are typically battles of wits, with the protagonists first trying to understand how their opponent's Stand works and then how to adapt their own powers to defeat it.  The Netflix-exclusive Stone Ocean is no different, with Jolyne having to use Stone Ocean's powers in various ways to unravel the conspiracy that lead to her imprisonment. Over the course of the Stone Ocean story arc, this includes weaving nets, stitching Jolyne's wounds, tying up and choking enemies, and even drawing complex patterns to convey information. It's this chess battle of powers that keeps JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fans hooked, and Jolyne's flexible power is versatile enough to stay interesting across the gauntlet of battles she must face.
