Final Fantasy 7 Remake is an action RPG developed and published by Square Enix. The original Final Fantasy 7 game was released in 1997. Players can take the role of Cloud Strife, a mercenary in the dystopian city of Midgar. Cloud can make decisions and interact with different characters, one of which is Johnny, a red-headed troublemaker and supporting character. Johnny views himself as a ladies man and has a crush on Tifa, Cloud’s companion throughout the game. While Johnny had a couple talking points with Cloud in the original version of the game, this is the first time that Johnny’s interactions with Cloud affect gameplay in any way. Johnny also has a musical theme in the remake that wasn’t included in the original game.

Cloud will find Johnny in multiple different places throughout the city and has the ability to interact with him. These are all called Johnny Incidents. There are five Johnny Incidents, each with a specific location. There is one in Chapter 3, two in Chapter 9, and two in Chapter 14. All of these locations can be revisited after the main story is over. The first Johnny Incident is available in the main story, so players will accomplish it automatically. The other Johnny Incidents are available in Discovery Events and Side Quests.

Some of the quests will involve chasing Johnny around Midgar, while others involve simply carrying out tasks for Johnny. If players complete all of the Johnny Incidents and interact with him as many times as possible, they will collect a trophy called “The Johnny Experience”. Cloud will also have to carry out conversations with Johnny, much to his displeasure, that mainly consists of discussions about women, his problems, and the desire to call Cloud “bro”. Cloud’s responses to Johnny’s dialogue options may also affect his chances of running into Johnny again, so try to ensure that the conversation continues to move the plot forward.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Johnny Dialogue

In Chapter 3 in the residential area, players can complete all of the side quests and head to the Seventh Heaven Bar. When players approach the large crowd outside, players will activate the cutscene. Here, the player will meet Johnny for the first time as he is being arrested by Shinra Public Security. Players will need to defeat the Elite Security Officer, the Guard Dog, and two Security Officers. When Cloud and Tifa rescue Johnny, he runs away and assures Cloud that they will never cross paths again.

In Chapter 9 in the Wall Market, players should follow the road south of Chadley and keep an eye out for a panicking Johnny. There will be a purple discovery icon on the map to lead players to that location. He will start running from Cloud. Catch up to him, and when he stops to talk to Cloud outside of the Honeybee Inn, continue the conversation. He won’t recognize Cloud from his previous encounters with him, and Cloud should maintain a positive outlook throughout the conversation in order to make a good impression on Johnny and to unlock more encounters. If the player says “Yeah” in response to Johnny, it increases their chances of triggering the next Johnny Incident.

In Chapter 9, during the side quest “The Party Never Stops” at the Wall Market, players have another chance to interact with Johnny. When players speak to the shopkeeper’s son in the clothing store, he shares that his father is probably out drinking at the Drunkard. Players can find Johnny outside of the clothing store while they look for the shopkeeper. Johnny will accompany Cloud to Drunkard’s to find him. The shopkeeper will send both Johnny and Cloud on a series of delivery quests. Throughout the quest, the duo have to aid a pharmacist, restaurant owner, and materia vendor, and Johnny manages to contract and recover from food poisoning over the course of the quest. Johnny and the shopkeeper will bond over their love of women, and the shopkeeper will reveal that his inspiration for his work is a woman at the Honeybee Inn. Finally, Johnny will say farewell to Cloud and leave to visit the Honeybee Inn.

In Chapter 14, during the side quest “Tomboy Bandit”, Cloud will come across Johnny at the Sector 5 Undercity Station. Here, Johnny will explain that he has been intending to leave town because of “reasons”, but can’t because he has insufficient funds. Johnny will present Cloud with the side quest, as a woman has mugged him and stolen his wallet. This woman is revealed to be Kyrie, and Cloud, Tifa, and Barret must confront her at the church. She requests that the group fights in her place at the Corneo Colosseum to win the stolen wallet back from her.

After returning the wallet to Johnny in the Sector 5 Undercity Station, he starts saying his farewell to Cloud and company, and bids a sweet adieu to Tifa, who has no romantic interest in Johnny. He tells her that if she begs him to stay he will, and she simply wishes him good luck for his relocation, which he takes as an inspirational declaration of love. Johnny proceeds to run away and players will be rewarded with The Johnny Experience trophy.

Now that the player is officially rid of Johnny and his thoughtful ideologies, they can bask in the memories that they made together. Players should look out for other new content that was included in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and the opportunity to collect more trophies.
