Since the release of the surprise movie hit in 2014, the John Wick franchise has captivated fans with its high-octane violence and intricate storytelling. While the titular character is most known for his films, John Wick also lives within the comic realm where his deadliest enemy, Calamity, has been introduced and proves to not only be an extremely dangerous threat but also John Wick’s exact opposite.

In the Dynamite Comics series John Wick by Greg Pak and Matt Gaudio, John is on a mission to hunt down and kill every member of a deadly hit squad. John Wick has a personal vendetta against them because years earlier John witnessed the team needlessly killing civilians while going after a target. While John is able to kill each and every member one at a time, there was one person remaining who did the majority of the damage that fateful day, an assassin by the name of Calamity.

Calamity is the opposite of John Wick in every way as she enjoys killing to the point where she will use the most violent and destructive means possible when carrying out an assassination, paying no mind to the hundreds of innocent civilian casualties. John Wick, however, does not particularly enjoy killing people. He is shown trying to get out of the lifestyle on more than one occasion, but when he does take on a job he does so meticulously and without needless bloodshed. When the two meet face-to-face in the comic series, those two opposites do not attract.

Calamity is able to violently escape from an institution before John reaches her, then reconnects with the remaining members of her old crew just in time for John Wick to find them all. In an epic final showdown of betrayal and explosive violence, John and Calamity become the last assassins standing and engage in a Wild West-style shoot-off, allowing fate and skillset to decide who lives that night, and who dies.

The action-packed final fight between Calamity and John Wick is the perfect payoff for the limited series and also introduces fans to an all-new villainous assassin worthy to call herself John Wick’s deadliest foe. While Calamity is a skilled killer, her sadistic and bloodthirsty nature becomes her undoing. Calamity initially attacks John Wick with a rocket launcher upon their final encounter and John proves that calculated movements and precise placement beats wildly destructive carnage any day. John Wick proves that he is the best assassin there is after showing that he is even deadlier than his deadliest enemy, Calamity.
