In terms of modern action films, there are few more critically acclaimed and beloved than John Wick. The 2014 Keanu Reeves-led action thriller, from co-directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, was applauded for its unique action style and interesting use of world-building. Filled to the brim with characters just as interesting as Reeves' lead, it was clear from the moment that John Wick ended that it had franchise potential, with the possibilities for further exploring some of the film's most interesting aspects and characters left wide open. Luckily, fans of the 2014 film are going to be getting their wishes granted next month when John Wick: Chapter 2 is released.

Following John as he is forced into a conflict he wasn't asking for once again, the film looks to be packing the same kind of action thrills as its predecessor, introducing multiple new characters and further establishing the underground society of hitmen and assassins that made the first film so interesting.

With less than a month to go until the film is released in theaters, Lionsgate has revealed a brand new poster for John Wick: Chapter 2 on Twitter through the film's official account today. The poster is an interesting play on the main character's last name, and the design is noticeably more bold and minimalist than the previous posters that have been released so far. Take a look at it for yourself below:

Whereas the first film was directed by both Stahelski and Leitch, Chapter 2 will just be directed by the former, while Leitch prepares to direct the highly anticipated sequel to Deadpool. Still, the lack of Leitch doesn't appear to have had very noticeable effects on the sequel thus far; it seems like Stahelski and Reeves are taking the same gun-fu action that they perfected in the first film to some insane levels in the sequel, with even more comedy and quirky supporting characters to meet up with John throughout his journey this time around.

If the first film felt like an underground, almost independent action film, though, then the sequel seems more like its slick, star-studded international cousin. Featuring notable new additions to its cast - including Laurence Fishburne, Common, Ruby Rose, John Leguizamo, and more - there's no denying the clear appeal that the John Wick franchise seems to have not only amongst general moviegoers but also within the film industry itself. Arguably one of the more anticipated action sequels of recent memory, it looks like John Wick: Chapter 2 is going to be delivering the same goods that made the original film so memorable, but this time with even bigger action set pieces for John to fight his way through, and even higher-profile stars to try and foolishly get in his way.
