John Wick has created a society of assassins which doesn't make that much sense. There are so many different elements to this civilization that it's difficult to keep up with them all. However, some fan theories have managed to explain some of these concepts.

Whether it's to do with John's pets, the hotels or perhaps even the money that the assassins use, there's a lot to explore and even more to explain about this world of hired killers. Here are five things that don't make sense and five fan theories that provide good John Wick explanations.

MAKES NO SENSE: BECOMING A MANAGER

It's difficult to understand how someone can become a manager in this world. There's people who have betrayed the high table numerous times that hold a senior position and those that clearly can't be trusted also have significant power gifted to them.

There must be a ceremonial process but it's unclear how many of the managers are actually former assassins. What's more, is this a choice that these people want to make, finding a safer space to operate in, or are they forced in to the jobs?

FAN THEORY THAT DOES: VALUE OF ANIMALS

John Wick and Bubba in John Wick 3.

There's a theory that the animals of this universe actually have more value within this society than we realize. John Wick's dog getting killed was a big emotional moment of the series due to the link to his wife. However, he then gets another dog.

We've seen Halle Berry's character have two dogs, which were of great value to her and those interested in them. Even the horses were treated with respect in the last film. Perhaps animals are actually of higher symbolic importance in this universe.

MAKES NO SENSE: THE HIGH TABLE

The High Table is full of some very powerful people, but we're not totally sure who's a member of it or how they got to be there. We've met the leader of the High Table, but he isn't nearly as intimidating as we'd expect.

It seems that a large part of working your way up through the society isn't through skill or perhaps even money, but through political power. The leader of the High Table is worshiped almost like a king, but why does everyone even follow this system?

FAN THEORY THAT DOES: EVERYONE PAYS A PRICE

There's one way to explain why everyone is stuck in their positions. From the hotel concierge to members of the High Table itself. There's a theory that suggests everyone is paying their price to someone else and are stuck in some kind of servitude.

John Wick managed to retire because he'd served his time to everyone he needed to. He's now once again stuck in a never ending contract with the high table, until of course he went on the run once again. It's a compelling explanation.

MAKES NO SENSE: HUNTING DOWN

The excommunicado situation doesn't make much sense. John Wick has done some pretty terrible things and broken the rules of the hotel. But how is half of New York after him? Why do so many people belong to this assassin society.

In theory it should be very easy to hide out for a while until the coast is clear. Somehow everyone is in on this big game to chase down Wick though. We're not totally sure if this can happen for other assassins too or if it's because Wick is so famous.

FAN THEORY THAT DOES: ASSASSINS AREN'T A SECRET

There's every possibility that it's well known in the world that everyone is run by these league of assassins. It would actually make a lot of sense considering so many people seem to be involved. Perhaps there's more political corruption than we realize.

While there's other source material such as the comics to explore this idea further, we haven't had a complete confirmation of how much of the world is actually taken over by the high table. It would certainly make a lot of sense though.

MAKES NO SENSE: HOMELESS NETWORK

Homeless John Wick.

How on Earth has such a network of homeless people been created that it's all held together by one guy sending out pigeons? Are these people part of the assassin society, or have they set up completely separately?

Are they former assassins or are they homeless people who have signed up to this? If that's the case, why on Earth would you sign up considering there doesn't seem to be any benefits. The whole network is extremely confusing.

FAN THEORY THAT DOES: OLD TECHNOLOGY

Those who run the administration side of this organization all work from typewriters and old fashioned computers. While the era this is set in is slightly confusing, there's a fan theory that could explain the use of this old tech.

Some people believe it's part of tradition but also in order to stop modern technology from being hacked. These systems cannot be impacted from the outside, making it far safer for the society to use.

MAKES NO SENSE: COINS

There's a form of currency in the John Wick world that's quite difficult to understand. Each coin could have a different value but we're never told about this. One coin could buy a room but could also afford some weaponry.

It's not really specified how much money Wick actually has to his name or whether he will need a lot more to achieve what he needs to. The fact is, the currency in use makes little to no sense whatsoever.

FAN THEORY THAT DOES: MATRIX PREQUEL

This is an extremely popular fan theory and one that tries to link up Keanu Reeves' most famous franchises. The idea is that this is actually a video game world that Neo has been sent into in order to keep his mind busy.

It would explain why he is so talented with a gun, why a lot of this doesn't make a lot of sense and how a society like this feels like it's actually part of a video game. It's an interesting theory but we're not sure we want to actually see this.
