Keanu Reeves' Matrix co-star Carrie-Anne Moss says she would love to appear alongside him as an assassin in one of the John Wick movies. Carrie-Anne Moss' role as Trinity in The Matrix - the experienced fighter who works alongside Reeves' Neo on their quest to take down the Matrix and rescue the human community of Zion from an onslaught by sentient machines - is responsible for her rise to prominence in the late '90s. Since the original trilogy ended in 2003, she went on to star in many projects including MementoChocolate, and Disturbia. She also played Jeri Hogarth in the MCU Netflix series Jessica Jones.

Carrie-Anne Moss and Keanu Reeves have not worked together onscreen in almost two decades, but they have been brought back together by The Matrix Resurrections, which premiered in theaters and simultaneously on HBO Max on December 22, 2021. The film opens with Trinity and Neo living lives as normal people as Neo unravels the mystery about whether the events of The Matrix actually happened or are just a result of an inability to distinguish fantasy from reality. Their love, which has been the emotional core of the entire franchise, will prove yet again to be their most important asset in learning the truth and saving the day.

While she and Reeves were speaking with People about The Matrix Resurrections, she was asked about her favorite Keanu role. She explained that she loves John Wick - which is about the title character getting revenge on an organized crime group who stole his car and killed his dog, angering an international ring of assassins in the process - because of "the depth that Keanu is able to [create] with his body." When Keanu asked if she'd like to play an assassin in one of the John Wick films, she said "I'd love to." Keanu said she should be careful what she wished for and implied that he'd get the ball rolling. Read Carrie-Anne Moss's full quote below:

I love John Wick. I really started to understand Keanu's outrageous gift for telling story through his body. And I didn't fully understand that until I went deep into John Wick with one of my children. It was very bonding for us too. It was amazing to have that experience with my son and to watch the depth that Keanu is able to [create] with his body. It's really an art form.

I’d love [playing an assassin in a John Wick movie.]

Matrix Resurrections' Ending Was Bittersweet

If Carrie-Anne Moss does end up joining the franchise, she would be the third Matrix star to make an appearance in the John Wick films. The franchise has previously reunited Reeves with Laurence Fishburne, who played Morpheus, a ship captain from Zion who had been searching for The One, and released Neo from The Matrix. Although Fishburne starred in all three films from the original trilogy, he did not appear in Resurrections (instead, a role inspired by Morpheus was played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), making John Wick their most recent collaboration.

The entire John Wick franchise has been built out of appearances by major stars who come out to have fun and either fight with or alongside Reeves in the blockbuster franchise. This includes a wide range of performers like Halle Berry, John Leguizamo, Ian McShane, Common, and - in the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 4 - Donnie Yen, Scott Adkins, and Bill Skarsgård. Carrie-Anne Moss would be a perfect fit for this crew, who seem to be having a grand old time bringing the byzantine, assassin-filled world of Wick to life.
