25 John Wick 3's Elder Died

A surprise comes early in John Wick 4 when it is quickly mentioned that The Elder from John Wick 3 died. Played by Saïd Taghmaoui in the previous film, there is a new Elder to the High Table when John Wick seeks him out at the beginning of the sequel. It is mentioned that the Elder whom John Wick encountered before is now dead and has been replaced by a new individual played by George Georgiou.

24 John Wick's Wedding Ring Is Missing

It appears the fallout of the changing of Elders came at a greater cost to John Wick. A moment in John Wick 4 reveals that John's wedding ring is missing now. John memorably severed his ring finger in John Wick: Chapter 3 and lost his wedding ring as a price for re-committing himself to the High Table. His attempts to reclaim the ring at the beginning of John Wick 4 prove futile as he leaves Morocco without the reminder of his commitment to Helen.

23 Harbinger Only Has Four Fingers

Another John Wick 4 Easter egg comes with Clancy Brown's character Harbinger, who only has four fingers on one of his hands. This mirrors how John Wick's hand looks after John Wick 3. The fascinating aspect of this detail is the implication that even someone as high ranking in the High Table as the Harbinger once had to reprove his loyalty to the cause and cut off one of his fingers in the past.

22 How Much Time Has Passed Since John Wick 3

The John Wick movie timeline has been fairly easy to keep track of so far, as the first two movies picked up directly after the events of the previous films. This changes with John Wick 4 to bring the franchise its biggest time jump. While it is not specified in the movie exactly how much time has passed since John Wick 3's ending, director Chad Stahelski says that John Wick 4 takes place about seven or eight months later. One John Wick 4 cast member is worth noting as Akira actress Rina Sawayama makes her feature film debut with the role. This includes having faces on the masks that are popular throughout Japanese mythology. 16 The Importance of John Wick's Family

There are a few teases of John Wick's family in John Wick: Chapter 4 that refers to details established before. This includes reiterating his connection to the Russian crime syndicate Ruska Roma. The film also directly mentions that he was an orphan before the family accepted him into the group. It proves to be an especially meaningful connection for John to have, as it is only after being branded with the family crest that he is able to challenge the Marquis to a dual.

15 John Wick 4 Has More Dog Action

The John Wick movies have always had a soft spot for dogs, but it was in John Wick 3 that they got in on the action thanks to Sofia's (Halle Berry) trained pets. After they helped deliver some very memorable sequences in the film, they do not return, but John Wick 4's Mr. Nobody (Shamier Anderson) brings another dog into the mix. 12 John Wick Is Called Jardani Again

A quick John Wick 4 Easter egg comes as John is reunited with the Ruska Roma syndicate, as his birth name Jardani is mentioned by Katia (Natalia Tena). The franchise revealed in John Wick 3 that John Wick's real full name is Jardani Jovonovich. Since this is the name he had as part of the Ruska Roma family, it makes perfect sense that Katia would refer to him as Jardani as that is what she would have called him before.

11 Liberty Leading the People

The infusion of real-life art enters John Wick 4 when Winston (Ian McShane) visits the Marquis at the Louvre in Paris. This includes seeing a few notable paintings, including a prominent placement by Liberty Leading the People. The 1830 painting by Eugène Delacroix is shown and catches the eye of the Marquis. Beyond its representation of freedom and democracy, the Liberty Leading the People painting also symbolizes how people can escape oppressive regimes. 10 The Raft of the Medusa

The other painting in the Louvre that receives the most screentime is a famous piece known as The Raft of the Medusa. Created by Théodore Géricault in 1818-1819, the painting was meant to represent every type of emotion that humans can have in a given situation. The Raft of the Medusa is featured behind Winston as he begins to leave the Louvre, but he stops in front of it near the end of his conversation with the Marquis. It could help represent the various emotions audiences will feel as John Wick 4's ending transpires or the tragic nature and high body count of what is to come.

9 Another Ballerina Might Tease Ana de Armas' Spinoff

Another potentially important John Wick 4 Easter egg comes when the Marquis is shown alone in a theater watching a ballerina performing on stage. This could just be a sign of his incredible wealth and position of power, but it might also help tease Ana de Armas' Ballerina spinoff movie. John Wick 3 established the idea that assassins could be trained as dancers in New York, but perhaps the same practice happens in Paris. If so, it could be a connection to the first John Wick spinoff movie starring Ana de Armas.

8 John Wick Drives Another Black Muscle Car

There are many things that John Wick loves in this world, such as his wife and dogs. But, he also greatly appreciates a nice car, even if his normally end up wrecked and damaged. His tendency to drive black muscle cars continues in John Wick 4's ending in a fun reference to this part of his life. As his night of survival in Paris begins, he happens to find a black muscle car to use as transportation and a weapon.

7 John Wick 4 Reuses A Mission: Impossible - Fallout Stunt Location

The John Wick 4 action sequences are a highlight of the film, and one sequence could remind action movie fans of Mission: Impossible - Fallout for good reason. Both movies include key driving sequences at the Arc de Triomphe. Mission: Impossible - Fallout had Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt speed through the location on a motorcycle, but John Wick 4 has Keanu Reeves' character drive in the opposite direction of traffic in his car.

6 John Wick 4's Fire Bullets Have Game of Thrones Connection

Another fun detail in John Wick 4 that most might miss is the film's surprise connection to Game of Thrones. The third act introduces new guns that fire bullets that explode on impact and start fires. Not only are these real but the name of the gun and bullets are pulled from HBO's hit series. The gun John Wick and his enemies use is known as Taran Tactical Innovations Dracarys Gen-12s. Dracarys being included is a reference to the Targaryen command for dragons to breathe fire. Meanwhile, the rounds they fire are known as Dragon's Breath, a fitting name that builds on the Game of Thrones connection.
