Keanu Reeves has expressed his interest in Tilda Swinton joining the cast of John Wick: Chapter 3. Reeves has experienced a career revival of late by becoming the famous assassin known as John Wick. In doing so, the actor found his latest franchise, but one that is elevating the action movie genre with the heavy usage of gun-fu. While the first film was a complete surprise, Lionsgate knew they had a franchise on their hands when developing John Wick: Chapter 2 for a release earlier this year.
In the sequel, John Wick's world is expanded greatly with different groups popping up within this world and a greater exploration of the hierarchy that is in play. One of the benefits of the world building and the franchise now being a known commodity was having the ability to bring in Laurence Fishburne for a Matrix reunion, and Keanu is interested in bringing another familiar face for the third film.
People asked Reeves about the possibility of Tilda Swinton appearing in John Wick 3 - considering their history of working together before on Constantine and Thumbsucker - and it is an idea he is "all onboard with." Should such a reunion happen, it would be one that would bring the two back on the same screen for the first time in 14 years by the time John Wick 3 hits theaters in 2019.
Since this is just a hope or dream at this point, those supportive of this casting choice shouldn't get their hopes up. However, adding someone as prestigious as Swinton would be a great move for John Wick 3. Swinton's natural persona almost makes it too obvious that she'd be a great fit as part of The High Table. Then again, the possibility of Swinton taking on a more action heavy role as an assassin would also be a change up for her career and one that could generate excitement.
Reeves is currently the only person definitively returning for the sequel however. Director Chad Stahelski is hoping to return as long as scheduling permits it. As for the rest of the cast, there is reason to believe Fishburne should be back in some capacity, and the same should go for Ian McShane and the Continental. So, if the studio is looking for more stars to join, Swinton could be someone they eventually turn too. In the meantime, Samuel L. Jackson is still waiting for his invitation to join the party too.
