Former reality star John David, who is a pilot, started dating Abbie in June 2018. The couple entered into a courtship that saw them being monitored by chaperones. They also were not allowed to kiss until their wedding, thanks to their strict conservative Christian beliefs. John David proposed in July 2018 after decorating an airplane hangar. John David and Abbie got married and said, "I do," in November 2018.

The entire Duggar family has had a rough year thanks to Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's oldest son, Josh. In May, Josh was sentenced to 12 years after being found guilty of possessing child sexual abuse material back on December 9, 2021. Josh has been the biggest thorn in the family's side, with his siblings being split down the middle when it comes to standing by him. Josh has always had issues and is looking at over a decade behind bars.

John David did not attend his brother's trial and instead opted to get out of Arkansas and go on a vacation. The family no longer has 19 Kids and Counting as a platform but still posts regularly on their social media accounts. TLC also aired a spin-off called Counting On, featuring many of their family members. John David and Abbie have been keeping fans up to date on the growth of Grace as she learned to walk and talk. Now their followers are expecting they will do the same with Charlie.
