Joel McHale starred as Jeff Winger on the cult hit sitcom Community for six seasons, but here's what he's gotten up to since the series ended. Before becoming Greendale's resident deadpan snarker, McHale was primarily known for hosting The Soup, E!'s weekly show that delighted in making fun of pop culture, especially reality TV. Oddly both shows would sign off in the same year, 2015, with McHale hosting The Soup for nearly a decade. The Soup has since been revived, with comedian Jade Catta-Preta as host, although it's yet to catch on as well as McHale's version.
Since his time on Community and The Soup ended, McHale has succeeded in keeping himself relevant, continuing with stand-up comedy, hosting shows wherever he can, starting a podcast with Ken Jeong, and also booking his share of acting roles. He also recently reunited with the Community cast to do a table read of a classic episode, further spurring on fan desires for the fabled Community movie, or better yet, a season 7.

Community: What Joel McHale Has Done Since The Series Ended
Joel McHale's post-Community career is perhaps best split into two halves, his acting work and his time as a host. Acting-wise, McHale landed the lead role of Jack in CBS sitcom The Great Indoors fairly quickly after Community's demise, although it was canceled after one season. During that same period, McHale popped up in a good number of guest roles on shows like Bojack Horseman, Dr. Ken, Difficult People, Dimension 404, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Bill Nye Saves the World, and Rick and Morty.
In 2018, McHale appeared in Assassination Nation, an indie movie about a small town thrown into chaos by the reveal of personal secrets, the crass puppet comedy The Happytime Murders, and best of all, National Lampoon biopic A Futile and Stupid Gesture, in which he played Community co-star Chevy Chase. McHale's next big TV role was as conspiratorial talk show host Tad O'Malley on FOX's revival of The X-Files, which was followed not long after by a short stint on Netflix's Santa Clarita Diet. More recently, McHale has been playing Sylvester Pemberton aka Starman on DC's Stargirl TV show, and also found the time to guest star on Jordan Peele's Twilight Zone.
As for the other half of his post-Community career, McHale hosted The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale on Netflix in 2018, which ran 19 episodes total. It was basically The Soup in all but name, which the show itself gleefully made fun of. McHale also recently hosted The Tiger King and I, a post-show for the wildly popular Netflix documentary series Tiger King. He's also been a prolific talk show guest, as well as a guest co-host on Live with Kelly and Ryan, The Today Show, and The Talk. Community may be over, but Joel McHale isn't at a loss for work.
