A new poster has been released for season 3 of Jessica Jones, teasing that the first official trailer will be arriving Thursday. Jessica Jones is the last of The Defenders standing, following the cancellation of Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. In a collaboration between Marvel and Netflix, each of the characters received their own standalone, MCU-adjacent series before joining forces for The Defenders team-up show. Each of the shows was met with varying degrees of success and acclaim. Though the quality is believed to have dipped slightly between season 1 and season 2, Jessica Jones proved to be the most consistent of the shows overall.

While some fans held on to hope that this meant the show would survive where the others fell, Netflix officially dropped the axe in February. As such, the third season will also be the final one. Whether the show will definitively conclude or be left in a more cliffhanger fashion, much as the others did, remains to be seen. Either way, season 3 will once again be 13 episodes in length. And Krysten Ritter will once again play the hard-drinking, borderline anti-social detective. This season will see her cross paths with a highly intelligent psychopath that seems intent on exposing her as a fraud and a cheater. The conflict will apparently result in a devastating loss, and will place Jessica at odds with her adopted sister Trish Walker, due to their differing approaches to heroism.

A new poster, released on the official Jessica Jones Twitter page, further teases the foe that will torment Jessica and her associates. The Twitter page itself is made to look as though it's been hacked, each post and even the bio expressing a deranged vendetta against the super-powered detective. The latest post further emphasizes that hatred, calling Jessica "overrated" and "overexposed". It also offers a teasing glimpse of her tormentor, though he remains hidden by dark-room photographs of Jessica, Trish, and other loved ones. Most notably of all, however, is that it confirmed an official trailer will drop sometime Thursday. Check out the full post below:

Ritter will be pulling double duty on the final season. As well as starring, the actress also stepped behind the camera to direct the second episode. Rachael Taylor, Eka Darville, and Carrie-Anne Moss will also reprise their roles from previous seasons. Season 2 saw each end up in surprising places, with Trish (Taylor) revealed to have gained super-powers of her own, and Jeri Hogarth (Moss) still suffering from a terminal illness and having manipulated fatal revenge on those who had conned her. Whether any of those plot threads come back to haunt the characters in season 3, however, remains to be seen. Jessica herself seemed to settle down somewhat, forming a bond with J. R. Ramirez's Oscar and his son. With them only credited on one episode, though, it could be that any happiness she experienced will be short-lived.

Whatever the case, however, each character will undoubtedly be haunted by the mysterious psychopath and drawn somehow into the cat-and-mouse game. The videos posted on Twitter indicate he knows each of them all-too well. And much like Kilgrave, who served as the villain in season 1 but won't be a part of season 3, he probably won't mind targeting them to achieve his ends. Just who is playing the character, what the source of his issue is, and whether they will be somebody fans recognize from the comics is being kept firmly under wraps. With the trailer on its way, hopefully some light will be shed on proceedings.
