Jessica Jones Season 3 Character Breakdowns May Reveal Villain

Season 3 of Jessica Jones is already in the works, and new character breakdowns reveal Marvel and Netflix plan for the show to last even longer.

Season 3 of Jessica Jones looks to already be in the works, as new casting breakdowns hint at a pair of villains and two supporting characters whose stories may last multiple seasons. The partnership between Marvel and Netflix has yielded a number of well-received shows, with only Iron Fist failing to hit the bar of the others. But even the solo adventures of Danny Rand may turn around, as Finn Jones promised yesterday that Iron Fist season 2 will be unique and like nothing seen before.

Jessica Jones just finished its second season to mostly positive reviews, with the show once again being praised for its portrayal of women and the after-effects of trauma. Unsurprisingly, Jessica Jones was renewed for season 3 shortly after this year's episodes were released, though no date was given for its return. It took two and a half years for its first follow-up season, and even Daredevil has had two years in between each installment. But new details about season 3 of Jessica Jones may tease it will arrive even sooner than expected.

That Hashtag Show has characters breakdowns for season 3 of Jessica Jones, hinting that work has already begun on the next batch of episodes. While the names in question are sure to be aliases, they do provide some interesting insight into the new season and beyond.

[ELLIOTT] Mid 30s-early 40s, male, open ethnicity. Must be over 5’11. A charismatic gambler and alcoholic. Attractive, quick-witted and dry. His edgy charm comes through even in the direst circumstances. SERIES REGULAR – ONE YEAR DEAL

[COLLINS] 30-50, male, open ethnicity. He is physically spry, extremely intelligent and meticulous. Driven by a pathological need to feel superior. SERIES REGULAR – ONE YEAR DEAL

[KEIRA] 48-52, female, please submit African American, Latina, Asian, Native American, etc. A bohemian cellist and music professor. Intelligent, wry and sexy. Self possessed and able to weather any storm. SERIES REGULAR – POSSIBLE TWO YEAR DEAL

[ZELDA] 27-31, female, African American, strong, smart and driven. A rising star in her profession with the ambition and talent to propel her to the top one day. She’s earthy, beautiful, supportive and fiercely protective of those she loves. SERIES REGULAR – MULTI-YEAR DEAL

THS believes that Collins may in fact be Curtis Jackson, better known as the Power Broker. His story involves augmenting others (and occasionally himself) with superpowers, a plot that would be a perfect fit for the MCU and its growing slate of enhanced individuals. What's more, but Power Broker has worked with Dr. Malus in the comics and the story could easily spin out from season 2's experiments at IGH. Elliott, meanwhile, is pegged as Edward Garner, who ran a wrestling organization that utilized the super-powered individuals. Characters like D-Man, Screaming Mimi, and the Sharon Ventura Ms. Marvel passed through their ranks, so an explosion of C-List Marvel characters could be around the corner.

THS didn't have any guesses for Keira or Zelda other than they could be connected to Power Broker's enhancements, but what's more interesting about them comes at the end of the description. While the two potential villains are only guaranteed a year on the show (meaning they could be killed off or jailed), the two female characters have a longer possible arc. Keira has the option to come back for season 4, while Zelda seems primed for multiple seasons. That not only means Marvel and Netflix are eyeing more seasons of Jessica Jones, but that the story of season 3 could be a long-reaching one. We've already seen a thread run through season 1 and 2 of Jessica Jones, so it could be the entire series will feature one long arc.

Power Broker has also popped up in recent years as a foe for Ant-Man, sporting a purple look similar to Killgrave. What's more, he was peddling a new app that allowed supervillains to hire underlings and pull from a list of low-tier baddies. A combination of all these stories could be a clever and modern way to play with the rise of superpowers in the MCU while also feeding stories in all of the Netflix shows. And with only Iron Fist and The Punisher expected to air next year, perhaps Jessica Jones season 3 will fill the third Marvel-Netflix slot and fans will get to see the detective's return fairly soon.
