Jessica Jones season 2 set photos feature the return of David Tennant as the villainous Kilgrave. Jessica Jones was the second series to debut as part of Marvel TV and Netflix's partnership, following the premiere of Daredevil earlier in 2015. The streaming service and television arm of Marvel Studios have since rolled out an additional season of Daredevil as well as debut seasons of Luke Cage and Iron Fist - with The Defenders miniseries set to release this week and feature a team-up of all of New York City's street-level heroes. After the release of The Punisher season 1 later this year, Jessica Jones is expected to be the first Marvel Netflix offering of 2018.

Jessica Jones season 2 began filming in April of this year, so the series is likely closing in on the home stretch. While the production has been surrounded with as much secrecy as we've come to expect from any Marvel project, there have been some hints based on set photos, including flashbacks that feature Jessica (Krysten Ritter) and her best friend Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor). More recently, it was confirmed Jessica Jones season 1 villain Kilgrave will return for season 2 and the latest set photos feature him taunting - and/or haunting - the hero.

The set photos arrive via Twitter and feature Tennant dressed in Kilgrave's typical purple suit - a reference to the character's comic book name, Purple Man - seemingly taunting both Jessica and her friend Malcolm (Eka Darville). Take a look:

Of course, Jessica killed Kilgrave in the season 1 finale of Jessica Jones during the climactic showdown between the super-powered hero and her manipulative abuser. However as indicated by these set photos, it seems Kilgrave still has some kind of hold over both Jessica and Malcolm. Season 1 revolved around Jessica dealing with the trauma as a result of being manipulated by Kilgrave, and while she physically defeated him in the finale - both by learning to resist his manipulative powers and by killing him - she'll still be dealing with the mental and emotional fallout from their confrontation in season 2.

That said, Kilgrave isn't the only force of evil Jessica will have to contend with in season 2. The first season teased a deeper back story for Will Simpson (Wil Traval) that could see season 2 officially introduce Nuke, plus rumors have pointed to Typhoid Mary appearing in season 2, potentially being played by Leah Gibson. Still, given the positive reaction to the compelling arc of Jessica Jones season 1 and Kilgrave's role in it, fans will no doubt be anticipating the villain's return for season 2. And these set photos certainly assure Kilgrave will still be tormenting Jessica - either as a ghost or a manifestation of her trauma.
