Jessica Jones may be returning to the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again, and it has the perfect opportunity to pay off a tease from Jessica Jones. Jessica Jones was first introduced as part of the Netflix MCU, being one of the major characters in The Defenders. Sadly, the fan-favorite private investigator hasn't been seen since Jessica Jones season 3, but if she does return in Daredevil: Born Again, the series needs to continue one of her Netflix storylines.

Unlike Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, Jessica Jones never really wanted to be a hero throughout her show. However, the ending of Jessica Jones season 3 finally implied that the PI would be taking another path, finally becoming a full-time superhero. Audiences were excited to finally see Jessica Jones take up the superhero identity of her comic book counterpart, but the show's cancelation meant that this never happened. With rumors of Jessica Jones' MCU return, though, the character may finally have a chance to pay off her biggest storyline by becoming a true superhero.

Jessica Jones Needs To Be Jewel In Daredevil: Born Again

If she is reintroduced in Daredevil: Born Again, Jessica Jones needs to return as Jewel. In the comics, Jessica Jones starts out as a costumed superhero named Jewel, with the character donning a white suit and purple hair in order to stop criminals by using her super strength. However, after a traumatic experience with The Purple Man, Jones gives up her life as a hero and becomes a private investigator. Netflix's Jessica Jones tells a similar version of the story, explaining Jessica Jones' backstory with Kilgrave, but the big difference is that she was never Jewel.

Although this version of Jessica Jones was never Jewel, it's been hinted that she could take up the mantle at several different points. Jessica Jones shows that the titular character has sketches of Jewel's outfit, with her sister encouraging her to become a real superhero. The biggest tease, though, was at the end of Jessica Jones season 3, with Jones deciding to become a full-time superhero. The results of this decision should be seen in Daredevil: Born Again, reintroducing Jessica Jones as the costumed vigilante, Jewel. Having Jessica become Jewel would continue her season 3 story, and Daredevil: Born Again may be the only opportunity to do it.

Having Jessica Jones Become Jewel Continues An MCU Trend

Having Jessica Jones become Jewel in Daredevil: Born Again does more than just continue her Netflix story, though, as it actually continues an MCU trend. Kingpin and Daredevil's MCU versions are both stronger than their Netflix counterparts, with the two characters getting seriously powered up in order to better fit in with the universe. Making Jessica Jones become Jewel would do the same thing, with her years of experience as a full-time superhero explaining why her abilities have been upgraded.

On top of that, giving Jessica Jewel's costume would also fit in with this trend. Kingpin and Daredevil both got more comic-accurate costumes in the MCU, with Kingpin wearing his Hawaiian shirt in Hawkeye and Daredevil wearing his yellow and red suit in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. While Jessica can still wear her street clothes in some scenes, the purple hair and white costume would continue this pattern, better translating her into the more whimsical side of the MCU. Bringing back Netflix's Jessica Jones could be tough, but turning her into Jewel in Daredevil: Born Again would be the perfect way to continue her story.
