Krysten Ritter's new Jessica Jones-looking hairstyle has sparked speculation she's about to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's been nearly three years since the final season of Jessica Jones aired on Netflix. This marked the end of Netflix's Marvel universe and seemed to be the last time audiences would see Krysten Ritter play the superpowered private investigator. The Breaking Bad actress started playing Jessica Jones in 2015 when the series debuted. She continued to headline the solo series for two more seasons and also returned for the crossover miniseries, The Defenders.

During her tenure as Jessica Jones, Ritter proved to be ideal casting for the hard-edged hero. This is why fans have long hoped to see her return at some point in the future. While that seemed to be wishful thinking at first, the outlook of the Defenders characters has started to change quite drastically recently. Spider-Man: No Way Home brought back Charlie Cox's Daredevil and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin returned in Hawkeye as well. These appearances came right before Disney confirmed Jessica Jones and the other former Netflix Marvel shows will move to Disney+ on March 16. As a result of these factors, fans have renewed hope that Ritter's Jessica Jones could also come back.

Now, speculation that Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones is right around the corner has begun based on the actress' new hairstyle. Hairstylist Melanie Jacobs shared photos of Ritter on her Instagram that show her newly dyed hair, which has a bit of a purple tint to it. Although Ritter's hair is much longer than it was when she played Jessica Jones in the past, the speculation suggests she's colored her hair ahead of filming a new MCU project. Although the Netflix shows let the actress keep her naturally black hair, Jessica's comic look often includes purple-ish hair.

It would certainly be great news for fans if Ritter is confirmed to return as Jessica Jones in the future. However, there is no obvious landing spot for her at this moment based on what MCU productions are known to be filming or are gearing up to start. Jessica Jones could possibly factor into the Echo series, especially if Daredevil and Kingpin return there too, and that show is expected to begin filming next month. As for why the actress who lives in California would get her hair dyed in Texas prior to working on an MCU project, that is unclear.

There are currently no confirmed plans for Krysten Ritter to play Jessica Jones again, but that won't stop fans from speculating about the potential. There has long been hope that she'll appear in the She-Hulk Disney+ show, as her experience as a private investigator could lead Jessica to cross paths with Jennifer Walters' lawyer career. If Ritter's new hairstyle is meant to indicate her return as Jessica Jones, though, it likely isn't for She-Hulk unless the series is currently doing secret reshoots. In any case, hopefully, Ritter does return as Jessica Jones sooner than later, even if this hairstyle has nothing to do with it.
