As Jessica Jones heads to Netflix later this month, promotion for the new series has begun to ramp up. Along with multiple teasers and a full-length trailer, a new gallery of high-res photos have been released, so viewers can better get to know the cast of characters ahead of its November 20th premiere.
Jessica Jones follows in the footsteps of its Netflix predecessor Daredevil, showing the darker, seedier side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At the center of the show’s darkness is Kilgrave, also known in the comic books as The Purple Man (David Tennant), who has a previous history with the show's heroine and has dangerous mind-controlling abilities. The villain will have a strong presence on the show, similar to Daredevil’s Wilson Fisk, and to play up the character's villainy and his importance to the show, Marvel has given him his own character poster.
But Kilgrave is just one of many characters on the show. As such, the official Jessica Jones Facebook page has a new gallery of photos to give those planning on tuning in a better look at the main cast:
The gallery gives a better look at the entire cast, which includes Jessica's fellow Marvel superhero and love-interest Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Jessica’s best friend Trish "Patsy" Walker (Rachael Taylor), and attorney Jeryn Hogarth (Carrie-Ann Moss). The photos also reveal recurring characters in the show, including NYPD detective Will Simpson (Wil Traval), Alias Investigations client (Erin Moriarty), and Jessica’s neighbor Malcolm (Eka Darville).
By releasing a whole gallery of photos for fans, Jessica Jones makes it clear it wants you to be familiar with the names and faces of these characters. Being a lesser-known hero than Daredevil, Jessica Jones seems to be getting a proper introduction to the world through the show’s promotional material. The new gallery also gives a better look at Luke Cage, who not only will have a presence on the show, but will launch his own Netflix show in 2016. Get ready to be quite familiar with Jessica and Luke as they open up the MCU for more street-level heroes.
