Just days before Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star Ronnie Ortiz Magro was arrested for domestic violence allegations, he reached out to Uncle Nino for some relationship advice. Uncle Nino has played a big role on the show in recent years. Fans were first introduced to him as Vinny Guadagnino's crazy Italian uncle during the original series. Now Uncle Nino is a part of the family and makes at least one appearance throughout each season of the spin-off series.
Back in April, news broke that Ronnie was taken into custody for domestic violence allegations involving his then-girlfriend Saffire Matos. Ronnie was later released on a $100,000 bail. The couple kept quiet for quite some time before making their return to social media, confirming they were in fact still together. Two months later, Ronnie proposed to Saffire over Father's Day weekend.
Just days before his arrest, Ronnie reached out to inform Uncle Nino that he was planning on proposing. Uncle Nino did an interview with The Wiseguyz Show on YouTube in late April, which has since resurfaced on Reddit. During the interview, Uncle Nino recapped his conversation with Ronnie from just two days before his arrest. Ronnie had called Uncle Nino on Zoom to inform him that he was planning on proposing to Saffire. Uncle Nino repeatedly questioned Ronnie on whether Saffire loved him for him or for who she saw him as on the show. Ronnie reassured Uncle Nino that Saffire was a "saint" and truly did love him.
Ronnie continued to rave about Saffire. He explained to Uncle Nino that she adores his daughter, Arianna Sky. He even said that Saffire loves Arianna "more than her own mother loves her," referring to Ronnie's ex Jenn Harley. Uncle Nino admitted that Saffire was in fact "very pretty" and "very sweet" since he had already met her during the cast's trip to the mountains. By the end of the conversation, Uncle Nino gave Jersey Shore's Ronnie his blessing. Uncle Nino continued on to remember, "Then two days later, I find out he goes back to L.A. and he beats the **** out of her." He admitted that the situation as a whole is quite "sad."
Around the same time, Ronnie was supposed to fly out to Arizona with Uncle Nino to film a cameo appearance for Vinny and Pauly D's show Double Shot at Love; however, due to his arrest, Ronnie did not partake in filming. Uncle Nino was not afraid to put the blame on Ronnie, noting all of his past arrests and abusive actions as seen throughout the Jersey Shore series. He also claimed that MTV is trying to distance themselves from Ronnie, which is most likely why Ronnie will no longer be filming for Jersey Shore. Fans are shocked Uncle Nino got away with revealing all of this information publicly.
