Jersey Shore will return to MTV next year for a special revival series, which is going by the title Jersey Shore Family Vacation. Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul ‘Pauly D’ Delvecchio, Jenni ‘JWOWW’ Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi, and Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino will all return, with Sammi Giancola being the only core cast member that isn’t coming back.

MTV announced that the original ‘Shore’ cast will be returning to screens last night, during the premiere of Floribama Shore, the latest in a long line of franchise expansions that have followed in the original show’s footsteps. There is even a British version of the series, Geordie Shore, which launched in 2011 and is now in its sixteenth series. The return of Jersey Shore proves that MTV still has a lot of faith in this reality series format, and has no plans to slow down its output.

Entertainment Weekly broke the news for online audiences, reporting that Jersey Shore Family Vacation will premiere on MTV in 2018. The reason for Sammi Giancola’s absence from the revival is yet to be revealed.

Jersey Shore first premiered on MTV in December 2009, chronicling the lives, romances, and arguments of eight housemates spending a summer in New Jersey. The show initially ran for six seasons (a total of 71 episodes), with the gang venturing out of NJ on numerous occasions.

Previous holiday locations for the Jersey Shore crew have included Miami and Italy, but it’s unclear where they will visit during this reunion/revival series. It’s also unclear how many episodes Jersey Shore Family Vacation will run for. Additionally, it remains a mystery whether or not the companion series Jersey Shore: After Hours will return as well.

This announcement is a rather vague one, then. All fans really know is that most of the cast will return for some sort of holiday, which will air on MTV at some point in 2018. However, although this news doesn't really offer much information, it is still sure to be a well-received piece of news among Jersey Shore’s sizeable fan base. The show’s conclusion in 2012 may have seemed fairly final, but now – in the golden age of nostalgia and revivals – fans will get to spend a bit more time with the crew from New Jersey.
