Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is officially a "free man" after finishing his probation sentencing. In 2018, Mike was officially sentenced to 8 months in federal prison for tax invasion. Then, in January of 2019, Mike turned himself in for his sentencing. Mike was later released from prison in September of 2019.

Due to his time behind bars, Mike was absent from almost the entire third season of the show. Mike's wife Lauren Sorrentino was seen heading to pick Mike up on the day of his release on the show. Since his release, Mike has returned to being a full time cast member. In fact, he recently confirmed that Jersey Shore: Family Vacation has been renewed for four more seasons. Mike and Lauren also recently became first time parents, which is set to be seen on the upcoming season of the show.

Now, nearly three years after his initial sentencing, Mike is finally a "free man." He took to Instagram to share the exciting news (seen below) on Friday. As of today, Mike has fully completed his community service hours as well as his entire probational period. He started off the post by explaining his probations officer had just left his home, assumably confirming the news. He then continued on to share the exciting news that he is "a free man." Mike wrote, "Probation is over ‼️ The Comeback is always greater than the Setback." Last winter, there were rumors that Mike had been slacking on his probation and allegedly using the COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse to not complete his community service hours. Whether or not this was true at the time, Mike's community service hours and his overall probation are no longer a worry for him.

Mike's wife Lauren shared in his excitement with him. She congratulated her "honey" before exclaiming that it was "time to celebrate." Mike's brother Marc Sorrentino, who was also involved in the tax invasion scandal wrote, "God bless." Marc went to jail as well; however, his sentencing was longer than Mike's. Some of Mike's Jersey Shore co-stars also congratulated him in the comments section of his post. Jenni "JWoww" Farley left numerous praising and clapping hands emojis. DJ Pauly D wrote, "Boom!!! Let's celebrate!" The Instagram account for Pauly's Virtual Sub Shop also left praising hands in the comments section. Many fans shared their well wishes with Mike as he starts this new, fresh chapter and can now fully focus all of his attention to being a good husband to Lauren and father to their son Romeo Reign.

Although the Jersey Shore roommates have all had their falling outs over the years, they have all come together to support Mike in this journey he has been on. The roommates are very respective of Mike's rehab journey. They have also not only stuck by his side but by the side of Lauren as well. They continued to involve Lauren in their family get togethers while Mike was away to ensure she stayed in a positive mindset. Now, Mike and Lauren can put this chapter of their lives in the past and move forward. This exciting moment will most likely be seen on the next season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.
