Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is clarifying why he called the cops on his brother Maximo Sorrentino. Maximo showed up unexpectedly to Mike and his wife Lauren Sorrentino's house earlier this week. Maximo is not allowed at the family's home without invite.

Earlier this month Mike and Lauren celebrated Mike finally becoming a free man again. Mike was sentenced to eight months in jail in 2018 due to his involvement in a tax invasion scandal. Two months after Mike and Lauren tied the knot, Mike headed to prison. Following his sentencing, Mike faced a two year probational period which include numerous community service hours. As of last week, Mike's concluded his probation, officially making him a free man.

Mike's past actually played a role in why he recently called the cops on his brother. Mike took to Instagram Saturday to clarify his reasoning for doing so after someone called the incident "despicable." He shared a screenshot of his direct response to this user as well as a lengthy caption giving even more of an explanation (seen below). Mike emphasized that "this is what prioritizing the health and safety of your wife and newborn baby looks like." Mike's brother had shown up unexpectedly to deliver gifts for Mike and Lauren's son Romeo. Mike's post also noted that this is "the ugly side of addiction." He continued on to mentioned that when someone is addicted to drugs, no one can help them but themselves. Mike is the best example of this as he has worked hard to overcome his own addiction, recently celebrating five years of sobriety. In doing so, Mike has not only managed to remain sober, he has also become a loving husband of three years and father of four months.

As for Mike's response to the user calling the situation "despicable," he had a lot to say there as well. He clarified that he was simply protecting his wife and son from an "estranged family member." According to Mike, his brother has a mental illness due to a "long term meth addiction." Mike is not the only person in his family to have issues with his brother. In fact, Mike's whole family, including his own mother, have blocked Maximo out of their lives. At the time of Maximo's unexpected visit to Mike, he and Lauren had just put down their 4-month-old son for bed. Although he had called the cops, Mike chose to not have the cops arrest Maximo or file any charges against him. Mike concluded the post by writing, "Anybody can get the smoke if you try to jeopardize everything I have worked for."

Prior to this incident, Mike had filed a harassment claim against him. This first claim had taken place not long ago, in July. Now, Mike has filed a second claim against his brother. The Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star is ready to leave his life of addiction in the past, which includes surrounding himself which only positive and uplifting people. Unfortunately, right now his brother is not one of those people. Hopefully Maximo can take some advice from Mike to turn his life around.
