To many longtime viewers' surprise, one of the biggest power couples on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation right now is Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and his wife Lauren Sorrentino. Although Mike and Lauren dated well before his rise to stardom on Jersey Shore, Lauren was not always by his side. The two were actually college sweethearts, first meeting while at school. When Mike was casted for the hit reality show, he and Lauren went their own ways. This split ultimately led to the crazy, single "Situation" fans quickly grew to love and, at times, hate.

Throughout the six seasons of the original series, Mike was seen dating many different woman; however, he was never in a serious relationship. In fact, most viewers believed he would never settle down. About a year after the show came to an end, Mike and Lauren reconnected in 2013. Lauren later described he reconnection to Us Weekly as, "Timing is everything — we circled back to each other about two years ago and we kind of picked back up where we left off." At the time, Mike was working through his battle with addiction, which Lauren has ultimately stuck by his side through ever since.

While their relationship was going well, Mike and Lauren were thrown even more life obstacles in 2018. Mike suddenly found himself being charged with tax invasion. Despite the stress and ultimate possibility of him being found guilty, Lauren stuck by Mike's side through it all. In the midst of the drama, Mike found the time to plan a romantic proposal to Lauren, which fans got to watch on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. He worked with his roommates as well as the show's production team to decorate the backyard of the shore house they were staying in at the time. The yard was covered in rose petals and candles with a slide show of photos playing in the background. Needless to say, Lauren said yes.

In the midst of planning for their wedding, Mike was also preparing for his jail sentencing. Lauren stood by his side at his court hearing in which he learned that he would have to serve time in jail. This sentencing ultimately rushed the couple's engagement because they wanted to tie the knot before Mike went to jail. In November of 2019, Mike and Lauren had an extravagant wedding in their home state of New Jersey. Fans got an inside look at their big day on the show. Just two months later, instead of heading for a honeymoon, Mike headed for a prison cell, leaving Lauren alone for eight long months.

In September of 2019, Mike and Lauren were reunited after Mike was finally released from prison. Their reunion brought tears of happiness to both of their eyes. The couple immediately started trying to get pregnant. Two months later, the couple shared the heartbreaking news that they had suffered a miscarriage. Despite their devastation, they kept trying to start a family. At the end of 2020, the couple announced they were expecting. Their announcement to the roomies as well as their gender reveal was seen on recent episodes of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. Mike and Lauren became first time parents in May. Now, they are soaking up every moment with their baby boy Romeo.
