In a new promo, The Real Love Boat hosts Jerry O'Connell and Rebecca Romijn give all the scoop about the new reality dating competition series. The Real Love Boat is based on the classic comedy-drama series The Love Boat, which aired on ABC from 1977 to 1986. Executive produced by Aaron Spelling, The Love Boat took place on Princess Cruises' Pacific Princess and featured famous actors as guest stars in every episode. It has one of the most recognizable and loved theme songs in television history.

The Real Love Boat brings together singles as they travel the Mediterranean on a luxury cruise ship while looking for love. Just like in the original series, the crew members, including the captain and the cruise director, will help the couples navigate their relationships. Hannah Ferrier of Below Deck fame will come aboard as the ship's matchmaker in order to help the contestants find potential partners. After a month at sea, one winning couple will receive a cash prize, along with a once-in-a-lifetime trip with Princess Cruises, which serves as the exclusive partner of The Real Love Boat.

In a new trailer for The Real Love Boat shared as an Instagram reel, real-life married couple Rebecca and Jerry explained how the show will work. The promo begins with Jerry singing along to The Love Boat theme song as he watches the show on a television in his room on the cruise ship. Rebecca enters the room and shuts off the TV, telling him that there is no need to watch the show because they are on board The Real Love Boat. Jerry then explains that the original show was about characters finding love on the high seas, and "here on The Real Love Boat, real singles are hoping to find their soulmates." The couple then introduces the captain, the bartender, and the cruise director who are the modern counterparts to the characters from the classic TV show.

Rebecca then shares that on The Real Love Boat, the singles "will set a course for love in some of the world's most romantic and beautiful ports in the Mediterranean." Jerry says that "the ship makes lovers out of strangers." The singles will compete as couples in challenges that are designed to test their compatibility. However, Rebecca and Jerry warn that it will not always be smooth sailing for the contestants because new singles will arrive in every port and others will be left behind. Of course, it is "all in the quest to find true love." Original Love Boat cast member Ted Lange, who played bartender Isaac Washington, appears in the trailer. He will be joined by Jill Whelan, who played the captain's daughter Vicki Stubing on the original series. At the trailer's conclusion, Jerry says, "It's a cruise our singles will never forget."

The Real Love Boat is a nostalgic trip for those who loved the original series. It will also be a fun dating competition show for those who are unfamiliar with The Love Boat. Singles entering and exiting the competition will certainly stir up a lot of drama on The Real Love Boat.

The Real Love Boat premieres Wednesday, October 5 on CBS.
