At least part of the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes from the synergy between its various franchises. While audiences didn't have to watch Ant-Man to enjoy Captain America: Civil War, it sure did help to know why Paul Rudd's charming size-shifter was on The Falcon's radar. The knowledge that any Marvel Studios film might feature a meaningful, in-canon cameo from any other hero provides that extra bit of nerdy incentive to keep up with every hero's journey.

Marvel movie alums Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Michael Douglas (Hank Pym) were recently together on the Chinese island of Hainan to play in the World Celebrity Pro-Am golf tournament. The Content Factory caught up with them at the Mission Hills Haikou resort to inquire whether future plans with Marvel would see them working together. Renner answer was expectedly coy:

"I am excited to be doing Avengers 3 and 4 next year and I know it is going to be a giant cast... There are a lot of amazing cast members in that world and they are all converging, so who knows what is going to happen. I can’t tell you or I might get hurt! Those decisions are above our pay grade, but we are just blessed and happy to be a part of the Marvel family. You just go to work when you are called and you know it is going to be great."

Ant-Man takes a ride on Hawkeye's arrow in Captain America Civil War

Douglas was sure to add his own two cents:

"One of the joys of being in the Marvel family is they find ways of transitioning your character into other Marvel films, so hopefully there will be a moment in the future where Jeremy and I have the chance to be in the same Marvel film together... The Marvel family is pretty extraordinary. They have made 18 films and every one of them has been successful, which is an extraordinary accomplishment. I don’t think any other studio has had the same degree of success."

Hawkeye was last seen in Civil War, escaping The Raft prison alongside Scott Lang. Considering he is the successor to Hank Pym's Ant-Man, it actually makes a lot of sense that the fugitives of Team Cap would come across particle-popping genius in Avengers: Infinity War. After all, with Reed Richards stuck in the 20th Century Fox-verse and relations with Tony Stark a bit awkward, Pym will likely be the most accessible mad genius during their fight against Thanos. On the off chance that Douglas doesn't appear in 2018's third Avengers film, Renner's next chance for a crossover would be in Ant-Man & The Wasp later that year.
