Jensen Ackles is working on a secret DC project but won't say if it is a film or television series. Ackles is a television legend, having appeared on the hit television series Supernatural for fifteen seasons as Dean Winchester. Ackles' next big project is in the role of Soldier Boy on the hit Amazon series The Boys, which will reunite him with Supernatural creator Erik Kripke.

Ackles is no stranger to the world of superheroes, particularly DC Comics. Before Supernatural, the actor appeared in season 4 of Smallville as Jason Teague, a love interest of Lana Lang with a mysterious past. He provided the voice of Jason Todd in the 2010 animated film Batman: Under the Red Hood and most recently voiced the Caped Crusader himself in a two-part adaptation of Batman: The Long Halloween. With the recent boom of DC film and television adaptations as well as the actor's popularity, it seemed like only a matter of time before the actor joined a new DC project.

Ackles recently appeared on Smallville co-star Michael Rosenbaum's podcast Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, where Rosenbaum asked Ackles what Marvel or a DC project he would want to be a part of. Ackles replied that he is currently working on developing a DC property at Warner Bros. with unnamed partners. Ackles is hoping for the project to get developed and doesn't want to jinx it by talking about it too much. You can read his full response below:

"There is a DC property that I'm currently developing right now with Warner Bros. and some other good partners that I've got my fingers crossed for. But, again, I'm not going to talk about it because [I] don't want to jinx it."

Currently, Ackles is developing a Supernatural prequel series titled Winchester, which will focus on Sam and Dean's parents, at The CW. Given Ackles' good working relationship with The CW and the fact that he has played two different roles in the Batman family of characters, Ackles could be working on the recently announced Gotham Knights series in development. But given that series has already announced its creative team and central plot and Ackles was not mentioned so unless he is joining the project late or they kept him hidden from the announcement, it is unlikely.

The project Ackles is talking about could also be a TV series for HBO Max, which has shows based on Green Lantern, John Constantine, Madame Xanadu, and Colin Ferrell's version of the Penguin in The Batman in development, in addition to the recently released Peacemaker. HBO Max also has a few DC films in the works, like the upcoming Batgirl. While DC has a long list of projects in development, given the company's rich catalog of characters, it is entirely possible the film or television show is not one previously mentioned. While Ackles remains cryptic about what it could be, hopefully, more details will come out soon.
