Several now famous actors had brief appearances in the 2002 drama Catch Me If You Can, including Jennifer Garner in a notable scene with Frank Abagnale (Leonardo DiCaprio). The film follows Frank's con artist lifestyle as he pretends to have various careers, and he encounters people along his journey, including Garner's character. The Catch Me If You Can cast features many future stars, including Amy Adams as Frank's fiance Brenda Strong, Elizabeth Banks as Marcy, and Ellen Pompeo as Marci, among others. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the movie's cast is rounded out by Tom Hanks, James Brolin, Martin Sheen, and Christopher Walken.

While this wasn't her first movie role, as she played Wanda in Dude, Where's My Car in 2000 and Nurse Sandra in Pearl Harbor in 2001, Garner's casting came before her breakout character Jenna Rink in 2004's 13 Going On 30. Garner's recent movies include a great 2022 sci-fi movie The Adam Project, Yes Day, and Love, Simon, as she typically portrays relatable parents in light-hearted stories. Jennifer Garner's Catch Me If You Can role is much shorter than the parts that she has taken on since but she has a fascinating impact on understanding the unique and thrill-seeking way that Frank lives his life.

Jennifer Garner Played Cheryl Ann In Catch Me If You Can

Jennifer Garner played Cheryl Ann, who is a sex worker and model, in Catch Me If You Can, and she appears in one scene. Frank meets Cheryl at a hotel and when she says that he can sleep with her for $1000, he explains that he would be able to pay with a check, but there's a problem: it says $1400. In a memorable twist, Frank doesn't pay Cheryl at all. Instead, she explains that she can give him $400, and is stunned to realize that he hasn't paid a cent. Frank's Catch Me If You Can character behaves poorly in every scene, including this one.

Cheryl Ann Further Exposes Frank's Manipulation And Lies

Frank treats Cheryl the same way he does everyone else he comes across: convincing people that what he is saying is real when there is nothing authentic about him. Cheryl proves that Frank will manipulate anyone and that his charm and talkative nature hide the real him, which is much darker and more threatening. While he lies in other parts of Catch Me If You Can, from pretending to be Dr. Frank Conners to becoming engaged to Brenda and running away, the fact that Frank doesn't pay someone what they are owed and actually makes them give him money shows his uncaring personality.

Jennifer Garner's Catch Me If You Can character is one reason why the biopic is one of Leonardo DiCaprio's best and most compelling movies. She may only be in one scene, but the fact that she trusts Frank and thinks that he will follow up with his promise to reimburse her for the money is an important part of his journey. While the movie sees him discovered by FBI agent Carl Hanratty (Hanks), put in prison, and then living a regular life in the future, Frank has caused harm along the way, including through his short interaction with Cheryl Ann.
