Jennifer Aniston seems to have changed her mind on whether Ross and Rachel were on a break in Friends. Created by David Crane, Marta Kauffman, and Kevin S. Bright, the NBC sitcom premiered in 1994 and ran for ten seasons, exploring the lives of six young friends living in New York City. The series quickly became an instant phenomenon and one of the most-watched television shows to this day, with new generations discovering it on Netflix and then HBO Max. Most recently, the cast reunited for a reunion special that aired on HBO Max hosted by James Corden where he interviewed various people behind the show.

Aniston played Rachel Green on the hit comedy and has been honored with a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award in 2002. Since the end of the series in 2004, Aniston has gone on to have a fruitful and vast career, balancing between comedy and drama in films like Horrible Bosses, We're The Millers, and Cake. She has recently returned to television executive producing and starring as Alex Levy alongside Reese Witherspoon in the Apple TV+ drama series, The Morning Show, which has just released the trailer for its second season.

Aniston has now taken to her Instagram account exclaiming that Ross and Rachel were definitely not a break. Previously during the reunion, Aniston has stated that she believed that the couple were absolutely on a break and her Ross counterpart, David Schwimmer, has also echoed that statement in previous interviews. In her post, Aniston announced a merchandise collection, consisting of clothing, mugs, and caps, that feature memorable moments and lines from Friends. They include Phoebe's "Smelly Cat" song, the cast at the fountain that appears in the opening credits, and the famous quote, "We were so not on a break!" which Aniston captioned and wore. Aniston's post of the collection, which collaborates with the Americares organization that helps people affected by the pandemic, can be seen below:

One of the most debated topics about Friends that is still discussed to this day is whether or not Ross and Rachel were on a break early in the sitcom. During the show's third season, Rachel wanted to take a break from her relationship with Ross, which led him to have a one-night stand with another woman hours later, resulting in their immediate breakup. Since then, it has become a running gag and a dispute between the two characters and while they reunited during the series finale, the disagreement was never fully resolved, both in the show and amongst the fans.

While it is not entirely certain that the caption from Aniston confirms that she has completely turned around on her viewpoint of the matter, and it may have been just humorous wordplay to promote the collection, it illustrates the impact Friends continues to have on its fanbase. Despite all of the main cast having done many various projects since the series, they all have remained tied to their roles in the show that they played for a decade. Overall, Friends has left an indelible mark on television history, and fans will still be discussing about the break between one of the most powerful on-screen couples in television for years to come.
