Does Netflix's Filthy Rich reveal any clues about Jeffrey Epstein's death? Epstein was arrested on sex trafficking charges in July 2019, which followed the Harvey Weinstein scandal and the subsequent #MeToo movement. Over the previous years, Epstein had befriended numerous A-list celebrities and powerful international figures, which made the specifics of his case so controversial.

Approximately one month after Epstein's arrest, he was found dead in his cell at New York City's Metropolitan Correctional Center; the same detention facility that houses the notorious Mexican drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán." The cause of death was officially declared a suicide, the result of Epstein presumably hanging himself. As a whole, Filthy Rich documents Epstein's backstory, and features on-camera interviews with multiple women that he manipulated and abused over the years. The docuseries' final episode briefly covers Epstein's death and various conspiracy theories that have emerged online.

Filthy Rich doesn't suggest that one specific person was responsible for Epstein's death. Still, the docuseries does heavily imply that he could've easily exposed wealthy individuals that he framed over the years. For example, victims reveal that Epstein monitored every room of his New York City apartment, with the implication being that he was able to blackmail individuals who participated in a sex trafficking ring. As for the cause of death, journalist Charles Gasparino states that Epstein "killed himself the first chance he got," while journalist Tim Malloy states that it's "inconceivable" that something could've gone wrong. Filthy Rich establishes the context for Epstein's imprisonment, and makes the case that under-funded (broken cameras) and uninspired (sleeping) guards allowed Epstein to take his own life.

According to famed forensic pathologist Dr. Cyril Wecht, it's unlikely Epstein killed himself. Specifically, he told Fox News (via YouTube) that the three fractures of Epstein's hyoid bone are inconsistent with suicide. Wecht was enlisted to examine autopsy results by fellow physician Michael Baden, who was hired by Epstein's brother, Mark. In short, Epstein's fractures don't align with the theory that he leaped in order to hang himself. Incidentally, there's reason to believe someone wanted to silence Epstein forever. Filthy Rich includes a news report that cites "serious irregularities."

Ultimately, the evidence presented in Filthy Rich suggests that many people wanted Epstein to be dead. One victim, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, acknowledges a "blackmail scheme," and another victim, Sarah Ransome, states that Epstein "is a very small piece in a huge network." If Epstein did indeed have video evidence that he could've used to blackmail celebrities and politicians, then his death probably makes sense to many. The final tragedy, according to Shawna Rivera, is that "There was just so much to be said that's never going to be said." Filthy Rich on Netflix reveals that Epstein, while incarcerated, transferred his wealth to an offshore account, which would make it difficult for victims to receive compensation if he were to pass away. As it turns out, Epstein died two days later.
