Jeff Bridges’ The Old Man will be getting a season 2. The Old Man is currently in season 1 on the network FX. The action-thriller stars Bridges as a former CIA officer Dan Chase, who is living off the grid. However, when Dan is suddenly confronted with people who want to kill him, he goes on the run. The Old Man also stars John Lithgow, Pej Vahdat, and Alia Shawkat, and was created by Robert Levine and Jonathan E. Steinberg. The Old Man is based on the bestselling Thomas Perry novel of the same name.

Now, FX has officially confirmed the renewal of The Old Man season 2. According to executive producers Steinberg, Warren Littlefield and Dan Shotz, they “couldn’t be more excited to begin the next chapter of this journey" with Bridges, Lithgow, and the star-studded supporting cast. The Old Man season 1 has been met with rave critical reviews and currently enjoys a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 94 percent. According to the creative team, they are ready to explore the next chapter of the series, which has been three years in the making so far.

The news follows the early success of The Old Man. Not only is it lauded critically, but the show has met high viewership numbers as well. The Old Man was the most-watched primetime scripted series to premiere on cable TV since 2020, as well as the most-watched FX series premiere on Hulu in its opening weekend. This is unsurprising, given the role takes Bridges back into the western/drama genre, which he is well versed in after films like True Grit and Hell or High WaterThe Old Man continues its season 1 run with episodes releasing on Thursdays at 10pm ET on FX and streaming on Hulu the following day. Details about what's next for Dan Chase's story will no doubt be forthcoming now that another installment has been confirmed.
