With the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV miniseries nearing its release at the end of May, Jedi: Fallen Order feels more relevant now than it did upon its release. When the EA title came out in November 2019 a month before Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker hit theaters, its story felt out of focus because it took place in a different time than the film. But now that a live-action show about a Skywalker Saga character is following a Jedi around the same time as Cal Kestis's journey in Jedi: Fallen Order, his story can come to life and help inform Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Obi-Wan and Cal should likely have many similarities in their stories. As two Jedi who survived Order 66, they can share their experiences as exiles of a formerly great organization with very few people. Of course, Obi-Wan's relationship with Star Wars film and game villains Darth Maul and Darth Vader make him quite the unique subject in a post-Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith world, but the same institutions hunting him are the same ones hunting Cal.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer confirms this to be the case, as the Fortress Inquisitorius introduced in Jedi: Fallen Order makes an appearance in the show. Fans of the game will have easily spotted the pyramid-like structure as the stronghold for the Empire's Inquisitorius who are trained to hunt down surviving Jedi like Obi-Wan and Cal, but Star Wars fans who have only watched the movies would not. Thus, even though Obi-Wan is a master, he and the audience his show could possibly learn a lot about his story from Cal's story and knighting in Jedi: Fallen Order.

How Jedi: Fallen Order Can Inform Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi Wan Kenobi with Inquisitors on Tatooine

One of the ways in which Jedi: Fallen Order can inform Obi-Wan Kenobi is the Inquisitorius. Seen throughout Obi-Wan Kenobi's trailer is the red lightsaber-wielding Reva, who is known as the Third Sister, and even the Inquisitor himself; additionally, the show's cast of characters features other members of the Inquisitorius like the Fifth Brother. Cal himself was hunted by both the Second and Ninth Sisters in Jedi: Fallen Order, although he later helped reunite the Second Sister Trilla with the Light Side before her death. What the show could then learn for Jedi: Fallen Order is that the Inquisitorius is made of many former Jedi who were coerced to join the Dark Side. Hopefully in learning this, Obi-Wan can save some of Star Wars' Inquisitorius from the Dark Side unlike how he was unable to with Anakin.

But perhaps the most desired way these two stories could interact is with a crossover. Cal travels between many planets in the course of Jedi: Fallen Order. Though Obi-Wan should be confined to Tatooine given his mission to watch over a young Luke Skywalker, the Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer reveals the show will involve much more planetary travel than expected. Thus, Cal and Obi-Wan could possibly share an interaction if the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi happen after the story of Jedi: Fallen Order, which takes place 5 years after Order 66.
