Chris Jericho has joined the already stacked cast for the upcoming Jay & Silent Bob reboot. Jericho is a well known professional wrestler who spent most of his in-ring career with WWE. Jericho will be joining Joe Manganiello, Craig Robinson, and several others in the upcoming reboot. This will be the first film featuring the duo since 2001's Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and the project has been in the making for a couple of years. The comedic stoner duo, which first appeared in director Kevin Smith's debut film Clerksis set to reunite for the first time after nearly two decades.

Despite originating as side characters, Jay and Silent Bob have developed a massive cult following over the years. In the upcoming reboot, the titular characters will attempt to stop Hollywood from rebooting Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Production on the highly anticipated Jay & Silent Bob reboot began last month, with a release slated for this fall. Smith will return to portray Silent Bob and his longtime collaborator Jason Mewes will reprise his role as Jay. The film's cast has been growing rapidly, and now it has landed a WWE legend.

After production began, Smith promised a ton of cameo appearances for the movie and Jericho is one of them. Smith took to his Instagram to share two photos of himself, Mewes, and Jericho side-by-side. Smith notes that Jericho joined the project last week for a scene he took from '80s road movies he adored as a child. After expressing interest in future projects with Jericho, Smith revealed that there was only a week of shooting left on the Jay & Silent Bob reboot. Check out Smith's post below:

This won't be Jericho's first film, as he has appeared in other projects in the past such as Syfy's Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!. While Jericho is known for his wrestling tenure, he has also made a name for himself with his band Fozzy. Despite being a WWE legend, Jericho has recently jumped ship to All Elite Wrestling, a new wrestling promotion looking to make changes in the industry as WWE continues to get worse creatively. All Elite Wrestling could potentially draw in a bigger audience with Jericho's participation in the Jay & Silent Bob reboot, as the company is reportedly scheduled to land a major TV deal. And, while Smith has worked with Jericho in the past, this will be the first time Mewes shares the screen with the 6-time world champion.

With the Jay & Silent Bob reboot nearing post-production in a few days, expect updates on other cameo appearances in the film. The addition of Jericho is a welcomed surprise, but Smith certainly has more shocks for fans of the comedic stoner duo. No specific release date has been given, but one should be announced sometime after production wraps on the Jay & Silent Bob reboot.
