The Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is bringing a familiar face onto the team: Rosario Dawson is set to appear in the film in an undisclosed role. Previously, writer-director Kevin Smith made a slew of exciting casting announcements that included Joe Manganiello and Justin Long. The movie is a continuation of Smith's 2001 movie, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

For Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, Smith is recruiting a number of actors with which he's previously worked and this isn't Dawson's first trip into the View Askewniverse, either. She previously worked with Smith on Clerks II and was in talks to star in Clerks III before the project fell through. The biggest question lingering in the air is in regards to her returning as her Clerks II character, Becky.

Kevin Smith shared his excitement in an Instagram post announcing Dawson will appear in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. Though her character in is currently unknown, Smith shared, "She’s now played two #viewaskew characters," disclosing that this character will be completely different from her previous role, jokingly adding, "one more and they’ll kick her out of Hollywood." See his post below.

In what's already shaping up to be an incredible cast, with some exciting celebrity cameos to boot, Dawson is a fun and familiar choice that many fans of Smith's comedies are happy to see return. After she had wrapped her final scene, she embraced Smith in a massive hug, as seen in his Instagram post, telling him, "I'm happy you're still here." To further add to the anticipation for his upcoming comedy, Smith gushed about his co-star saying, "My friend made moves and interrupted her busy life and work schedule to come play with us in the #viewaskewniverse once again. I can honestly say she made the movie better!"

The plot of Jay and Silent Bob Reboot follows the titular characters on an adventure to Hollywood where the two goofy stoners plan to stop a reboot from being made of the movie based on characters based on them: Bluntman and Chronic. Smith has excitedly shared plenty of photos on Instagram during the filming process, which is currently taking place in New Orleans. The film is set to wrap soon and is shooting for a release this year.

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is the eighth film in Smith's View Askewniverse, and a hotly anticipated one at that. It's pulling the leg of many big studios that have found themselves thriving on rebooting old flicks in recent years and is guaranteed to bring joy to his fan base. The return of this dynamic duo is one that Smith has been teasing for years, so seeing him follow through on that promise with plenty of spunk, especially after a near-fatal heart attack last year, has been exciting to see. Smith is documenting the film's progress on his Instagram, as well as his YouTube channel with a making-of series titled "The Road to Reboot!"
