Even in the alternate future of Mother Panic: Gotham A.D., no version of DC's universe is safe when Jason Todd becomes the Batman. Especially not when Bruce Wayne isn't around to help him into the role - meaning he's a villain to be defeated in the series' final issue.

The crossover Milk Wars event between DC and its Young Animal imprint was too outrageous to sum up here, but the fallout paid off big time for the heroine mother Panic a.k.a. Violet Paige. Tossed from her own version of Gotham City into an alternate version, the leap forward ten years into the future shows what would develop if Batman disappeared, the Sirens united as an underground resistance, and Jason Todd started a cult. A cult promising the return of the Bat... a role he has taken over himself.

No surprise, Jason Todd's Batman is wasting no time in letting the trauma of being "the last Robin" alive take him from dangerous to downright terrifying.

The emergence of Jason as an armored Batman is where Mother Panic: Gotham A.D. #5 left off, and our exclusive preview of Issue #6 picks up with the first punches he throws. Well, technically, it begins with the titular heroine letting her opinion of the former Robin be known. And if you thought Jason's tragic origin story as the Red Hood couldn't be condensed into one page, Jody Houser and Ibrahim Moustafa have a pleasant surprise.

Take a look at the preview pages below:

These pages should give a good impression of the mature angle of the Mother Panic series, with the corpses of Damian Wayne, Duke Thomas, Dick Grayson, and more former Batman sidekicks still haunting Jason's waking life. It may be a dark vision of the man Jason Todd could've become if not Red Hood, but it also makes him a fitting adversary for Violet Paige in her own series finale.

It's hard to guess if Violet will have the chance to fill Jason in on their shared childhood trauma, since she, too, is haunted by visions and voices of her past. No matter what, Houser and Moustafa's re-imagining of Gotham so far has us on board for whatever finale they have in store. Check out a full synopsis for the issue below:
