Jason Sudeikis has found much success in his comedic career since his time at Saturday Night Live, but his hilarious performances on the show remain impossible to forget. Sudeikis was a cast member for eight years before exiting SNL in 2013, leaving behind some incredible characters.

With Jason Sudeikis' return to SNL as host for the very first time right around the corner, what could be better than a look back at his most iconic characters from his time as a cast member? From political impersonations to snarky commentators, these are the Saturday Night Live roles that Jason Sudeikis is likely best remembered for.

Regine's Boyfriend

Regine is one of Fred Armisen's most iconic SNL characters. While Regine had appeared on SNL a few times before the 2016 skit with Jason Sudeikis, the character made a comeback during Armisen's return as host. Sudeikis made a surprise guest appearance in that episode to help Armisen reprise his role.

It was a skit that might go down as one of both former cast members' best. Together, Sudeikis and Armisen made a perfect pair. Audiences raved over the couple's exaggerated mannerisms and impeccable chemistry, and they even made Aidy Bryant and Vanessa Bayer break character.

Officer Sikorsky

In the recurring SNL skit "Scared Straight" based on the documentary franchise of the same name, Jason Sudeikis played Officer Sikorsky, the officer who brought juvenile delinquents to meet Kenan Thompson's incarcerated character.

While Kenan Thompson brought the energy to the skit, it was Sudeikis who reigned him in every time he'd start to go too far with the juveniles. Although not the main comedic focal point of the skit, Sudeikis' loud and abrupt comments always came at the perfect time.

Zeus

One hilarious SNL skit called "Greek Gods" saw Jason Sudeikis as Zeus leading a financial meeting between fellow ancient Greek gods and goddesses. Although they were supposed to be discussing money, the conversation just kept going back to sex.

Sudeikis' Zeus is so memorable because of his entirely unconventional depiction of the character. Continually making sex jokes and sly comments at each of the quirky gods and goddesses on the council, it was ridiculously funny to see a Greek god known for being incredibly stoic and powerful played as laid-back and aloof.

Sports Reporter

Throughout his time at SNL, Sudeikis played so many variations of what was essentially the same character: a sports reporter. While there have been many skits with Sudeikis as a reporter, the most recurring character was that of ESPN commentator Pete Twinkle.

In this role, he would make over-the-top, often dim-witted commentary over exaggerated sports-based situations. Though the reporters would often find themselves comically off-topic in these skits, Sudeikis had a clear knack for sports-related comedy before taking on his hilarious character on Ted Lasso.

Background Dancer

Another one of Jason Sudeikis' successful collaborations with Kenan Thompson, the recurring skit "What Up With That" brings uproarious energy to the SNL stage. A celebrity talk show, "What Up With That" typically features many upbeat musical numbers performed by Thompson, background singers, and Fred Armisen on saxophone. Perhaps the best part of the skit, however, is Jason Sudeikis' character as an overly excited background dancer.

Sudeikis' off-kilter yet enthusiastic dancing pushes the skit from silly to hilarious. Though most of Sudeikis' SNL roles were based on the well-timed delivery of his lines, his character as a background dancer for "What Up With That" allowed him to showcase his talent with sheer physical comedy as well.

Joe Biden

SNL is notorious for its actors who play U.S. Presidents on the show. Current President Joe Biden is no exception, but back when he was in office as Vice President under the Obama Administration, Jason Sudeikis wore the Biden impersonation hat. Sudeikis did return to play Joe Biden briefly during the 2020 election, but the character has since been passed down to current members of the cast instead.

Still, Sudeikis' Biden will go down as one of the most memorable portrayals of the political figure. His version of Biden can be described as goofy, light-hearted, yet full of outlandish outbursts. Ironically, Sudeikis' Biden had always been satirized as being jealous of Obama's presidential status.

Mitt Romney

Although Joe Biden was one of Jason Sudeikis' greats, his impersonation of another political figure, Mitt Romney, was simply unforgettable. From the nasally mockery of the politician's voice to the bit that Romney was weirdly obsessed with drinking milk, Sudeikis captivated audiences with his portrayal of the 2012 Presidential Candidate.

Alongside Jay Pharoah's Barack Obama, the pair made the 2012 election quite an entertaining time for SNL. No matter the sketch, Mitt Romney was a perfect opportunity for Sudeikis to showcase his blunt, witty, comedic delivery.

A-Hole

Jason Sudeikis and Kristen Wiig playing A-Holes on SNL

One of Jason Sudeikis' oldest and best recurring SNL characters was one of two A-Holes, played alongside comedic genius Kristen Wiig. The "Two A-Holes" skits consisted of Wiig and Sudeikis' characters finding themselves in a variety of everyday situations, such as buying a Christmas tree or working out.

While obnoxiously chewing gum, the A-Holes would make annoying comments, showcasing their complete and utter lack of compassion or thoughtfulness throughout the conversations. Even though "Two A-Holes" debuted on what was only their first season with the show, Sudeikis and Wiig played off each other so well and the skit found so much success that they were both upgraded from featured to repertory players in the following season.

Judge Marshall T. Boudreaux

The recurring skit "Maine Justice" was quite popular amongst audiences during Sudeikis' tenure at SNL. A play on daytime court television shows, "Maine Justice" took place in the state of Maine, but inexplicably, nearly everyone but the rightfully confused defendant was seemingly from the deep south of Louisiana.

The host of the episode would play the court officer who Sudeikis' outlandish judge character would play off of. No matter the host though, Sudeikis would always steal the show in this skit with his loud delivery and ridiculously thick Cajun accent.

The Devil

Jason Sudeikis on Weekend Update as The Devil

While no recurring Weekend Update personality can beat Bill Hader's iconic Stefon, Jason Sudeikis' The Devil will surely go down as his personal best Weekend Update character. The Devil would appear on Weekend Update when a major public scandal was popular in the media at the time.

Jason Sudeikis played The Devil as a cool, down-to-earth guy full of snarky comments. In a cartoon-ish costume, Sudeikis' Devil was playfully upbeat and wildly entertaining to watch with every appearance.
