Jared Leto is teasing future plans with his Justice League director Zack Snyder. Leto won an Oscar for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club and next year will be starring in Sony’s Morbius. However, despite these facts, his role as Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad continues to be a hot topic when discussing the actor’s career. Suicide Squad’s theatrical version changed from what director David Ayer originally envisioned the film to be. Many of Leto’s scenes were cut, and as recently as last month, Ayer reiterated how the theatrical version of Suicide Squad was unfair to Leto. However, thanks to Snyder, Leto will get an unexpected second crack at The Clown Prince of Gotham when he reprises the role for the director's upcoming cut of Justice League.

Since the release of the theatrical version of Justice League in 2017, Snyder and his cut have dominated headlines. After years of campaigning, the director’s Justice League will finally see the light of day in March on HBO MAX. Even after the announcement of his Justice League releasing, the director weighed in on the Leto/Joker debate and praised the actor’s performance. In October, it was announced Leto would return as Joker and take part in the reshoots/additional photography for Justice League, becoming one of the top Snyder Cut stories on social media. Now, it appears the actor and director have plans to work together on future projects.

Leto appeared on Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast recently to promote his upcoming film The Little Things, but naturally, the interview went on to other topics such as his role in Snyder’s Justice League. Although the director has openly discussed Leto’s participation in the film, the actor played it coy by saying he’s “heard the rumors, too." However, Leto then went on to express his admiration for Snyder and teased the two of them “have lots up our sleeves.”

I may or may not have shot something with Zack, but I love him. He is just a maverick and an incredible filmmaker. We get along great, have a great chemistry, and I look forward to working with him again in the future. We have lots up our sleeves, Zack and I.

It’s nice to hear Leto speak so highly of Snyder, as it’s always good to see fellow artists support one another, especially two in the same DC world. One can’t help but wonder what Leto is referring to when he says the two have a lot up their sleeves. Some may automatically jump to the conclusion the two have discussed future DC projects involving Joker, which may have happened. Unfortunately, Leto gives very little away when it comes to what he and Snyder have planned. Although the director has not really teased future projects with Leto, he did previously express a desire to help release the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad.

Fans are excited to see the pair collaborate for Snyder’s Justice League, even if Leto likely has a small part. They want to see what Leto can do this time around, as well as finally watch Snyder’s vision unfold on screen. Both of their DCEU futures are up in the air past Justice League, and with DC executives thinking the Snyder Cut is a dead-end, a future DC endeavor for the two may be unlikely. However, even if Leto and Snyder do not reunite for a DC project post-Justice League, fans will still likely be excited by that actor-director combo.
