During an AMA thread on Twitter, writer/director James Gunn shared which Marvel Cinematic Universe character he'd most like to be stuck with during a coronavirus quarantine. Gunn is currently at home editing his latest film, the DCEU entry The Suicide Squad, which thankfully finished filming before coronavirus concerns began shutting down various productions all over Hollywood and beyond. The film is currently scheduled for release in August of 2021, though there's a chance it could be delayed.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, celebrities are taking to the Internet more often than usual. Late night talk show hosts are delivering their monologues from home, and celebrities are banding together together on Instagram to keep moral high. One way they're keeping in touch with their fans is through Twitter. With more and more movies being delayed due to the coronavirus and productions being put on indefinite hold, social media is a perfect way for these public figures to remain relevant even when they're not putting out new art for audiences to consume and enjoy.

James Gunn, best known for his work on the Guardians of the Galaxy films, took to Twitter to engage in an impromptu "ask me anything" session with his followers. Among the many questions he answered was one about which MCU character he would most like to spend time with during a quarantine. While one would immediately assume he would pick a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, he instead went with a different choice. In a two-word tweet, Gunn replied simply, "Jarvis. Next."

Jarvis would eventually be known as Vision, the hyper-intelligent android made by Ultron, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Thor, and the Mind Stone in Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, prior to that, Jarvis was an artificial intelligence that served as Iron Man's personal assistant throughout his house and laboratory. Voiced by Paul Bettany (who would continue to play the character after he evolved into Vision), Jarvis is one of the longest-running characters in the MCU, having made his debut all the way back in 2008's Iron Man, the very first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On ABC's period drama Agent Carter, the A.I.'s inspiration, human butler Edwin Jarvis, was played by James D'Arcy, who also made a cameo appearance in Avengers: Endgame.

It makes perfect sense why Gunn would choose Jarvis as the best quarantine partner in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As a legitimate artificial intelligence, he would be good company, an intelligent discussion partner, and an unobtrusive roommate. Since he lacks a physical form, there's also no way Jarvis could catch or spread coronavirus, so he'd also be a safe choice in terms of practicing safe social distancing and flattening the curve.
