The first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home confirmed the presence of some big villains from previous Spider-Man movies and teased the appearance of others, such as Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, but is James Franco’s Harry Osborn also hiding in the trailer? Now that the Infinity Saga has come to an end, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is moving foward with Phase 4 and is introducing big concepts, as is that of the multiverse. The TV shows WandaVision and Loki have touched on this concept in different ways, and it will be further explored in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

After Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) framed Peter and revealed his identity to the world at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) will have to deal with the consequences of having his biggest secret exposed and being accused of a crime he didn't commit in Spider-Man: No Way Home. For this, Peter will ask Doctor Strange for help to make everyone forget that he’s Spider-Man, but the spell won’t go as planned, and they will further mess with time and space, making way for more trouble in the multiverse. This will also make way for the arrival of villains from past Spider-Man movies, most notably Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) and Electro (Jamie Foxx).

However, they might not be the only villains Peter will have to face in Spider-Man: No Way Home, as there appear to be teases of other antagonists joining the madness. Some scenes briefly shown in the trailer appear to suggest the return of Spider-Man 3’s Sandman and The Amazing Spider-Man’s Lizard, and there’s also the voiceover of Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin along with the orbs he used to fight with. Now, some fans believe that there’s another character from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy hiding in the trailer: Harry Osborn (James Franco), the son of Dafoe’s Green Goblin, and they believe he’s actually the voice that tells Peter to “be careful what he wishes for”.

Green Goblin’s pumpkin bomb in Spider Man No Way Home

As much as fans would like to see James Franco’s Harry Osborn back and become part of the MCU, that’s not Franco’s voice in the trailer, and there’s actually some discussion on who says that specific line. It was initially believed it’s Willem Dafoe, as one of the Green Goblin’s signature pumpkin bombs appears right before that line is spoken and his laugh is also heard, but fans are now saying it’s actually Doctor Strange warning Peter. Although a return of James Franco’s Harry Osborn wouldn’t be impossible in the context of Spider-Man: No Way Home, as the movie is bringing back deceased villains like Doctor Octopus and Electro, there’s no word on his possible involvement, and he’s definitely not hidden in the trailer as many believe.

There’s still a lot about Spider-Man: No Way Home that hasn’t been revealed and a lot of rumors surrounding the story, especially those involving Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, who fans hope will show up at some point. For now, it’s unlikely James Franco’s Harry Osborn will appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but with the presence of Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, there might be some references to his son.
