Just in time for No Time to Die, a James Bond parody video sees an impressionist do Robert DeNiro, Tom Hardy, and more auditioning for the coveted role. The 25th film in the long-running Bond franchise, No Time to Die, marks Daniel Craig’s fifth and final outing as 007. The British actor has starred as the MI6 agent since 2006’s Casino Royale, which ushered in a very new era of Bond.

Following the critically panned Pierce Brosnan-led Die Another Day (2002), Craig won the role of Bond just as the Bourne franchise was redefining the spy genre. While his initial casting was met with skepticism, the debut of Craig’s grittier take on the gentleman spy revitalized the character for younger audiences. Now, films like Casino Royale and Skyfall (2012) are considered some of the best in the series. While other outings such as Quantum of Solace (2008) and Spectre (2015) have varied in quality, Craig has consistently been game, with many praising his iteration of Bond as the best to date. Whoever follows him will not only have to deal with the precedent he set, but the IP’s enduring legacy, and, of course, a rigorous audition process for the role of Bond.

The future of James Bond is very much up in the air following No Time to Die and Craig’s departure. Many actors have been the subject of rumors, reports, and speculation regarding their potential candidacy, including Hardy, Idris Elba, Cillian Murphy, Richard Madden, Tom Hiddleston, Henry Cavill, Sam Heughan, and Regé-Jean Page. As was the case with Craig, whoever inherits the mantel of 007, it’ll likely be someone fans least expect.

As Bond combats Rami Malek’s supervillain in No Time to Die, he’s aided by familiar faces from previous Bond films: Léa Seydoux’s Madeline Swan, Naomie Harris's Moneypenny, Ralph Fiennes’ M, Ben Whishaw’s Q, Rory Kinnear’s Bill Tanner, and Jeffrey Wright’s Felix Leiter. Craig’s era of Bond established a continuity not seen with the previous 007s and, theoretically, his universe could continue without him. An argument can be made that Bond needs another overhaul, or, perhaps a break while the studio considers spinoffs starring Lashana Lynch’s female 007 agent or Ana de Armas’ Paloma. At this venture, following Craig as the next “James Bond” seems impossible.
