Billie Eilish teases she's singing the theme song for the upcoming James Bond film, No Time to Die. Among the many staples of the long-running action franchise are the original songs that play over stylized opening credits sequences, helping set the mood for what's in store. Performing a Bond theme is a high honor for a musical artist, and fans are always very interested in seeing who will be next to continue the storied tradition. During Daniel Craig's tenure as 007, big stars Chris Cornell, Jack White & Alicia Keys, Adele, and Sam Smith have handled theme song duties. More often than not, the Craig era songs were successful, with Adele and Smith winning Oscars.

No Time to Die made headlines recently for its music when it was announced Oscar-winner Hans Zimmer would be composing the film's score. However, there hasn't been any word on the opening theme song since way back in 2017, when it was rumored none other than Beyonce would take the job. Now, with No Time to Die about three months away from release, it looks like a different pop star is joining the world of 007 instead.

Twitter account Film Updates posted screenshots taken from Billie Eilish's Instagram story, where the young musician shared images of Bond Girls (including Léa Seydoux, who reprises her role as Madeleine Swann in No Time to Die). UPDATE: The official James Bond Twitter confirmed Eilish will sing the title song for No Time To Die, which she wrote with her brother Finneas O'Connell. See the tweet below.

Eilish's involvement with No Time to Die isn't official as of yet, but it feels like an announcement could be imminent. With the debut of the movie's trailer last monthNo Time to Die marketing is in full swing, and releasing the newest Bond theme song is a key part of the promotional campaign. For instance, Smith's Spectre song "Writing's on the Wall" was shared in September 2015, roughly two months before that film premiered. So it wouldn't be out of the question for the No Time to Die song to drop online in the relatively near future, as EON continues to build up hype for their latest tentpole. In all likelihood, the studio has a deal lined up for the No Time to Die theme song (with Eilish or someone else) and is just waiting for the right time to publicly unveil it.

If the rumors are true, Eilish would be an interesting choice for No Time to Die. At just 18 years old, she's already one of the biggest names in the music industry, collecting six Grammy nominations this year (including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best New Artist). Performing a Bond theme would just be the next step on her meteoric rise to superstardom and raise her profile even further. Perhaps she could follow Adele and Smith's footsteps by crafting an Oscar-winning tune.
