With the release of No Time To Die on the horizon, a new official James Bond podcast is set to release exploring the making of the film. No Time To Die, the 25th Bond film and Daniel Craig's last outing as the character, was originally due to be released in November of 2019 but, because of a director change and the Covid-19 pandemic, was delayed several times and is now set to be released at the end of September. The film, which stars Rami Malek, Léa Seydoux, Naomie Harris, Ana de Armas, Ralph Fiennes, and Lashana Lynch, in addition to Craig, follows Bond as he attempts to rescue a kidnapped scientist and take down a mysterious villain with a dangerous new piece of technology.

The film, which began development in 2016, sees Skyfall and Spectre director Sam Mendes pass the torch to franchise newcomer Cary Joji Fukunaga, best known for his work on Beasts Of No Nation, True Detective, and Maniac. British filmmaker Danny Boyle was originally attached to direct, but due to creative differences between Boyle and franchise producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, Boyle ultimately departed the film. No Time To Die marks the first Bond film to be directed by an American.

While story details of the new film are still hard to come by, a trailer for the new Official James Bond Podcast was recently released, which promises a behind-the-scenes look at the making of No Time To Die. The six-part podcast series, which is hosted by film critic James King, will include guests Daniel Craig, Lashana Lynch, Léa Seydoux, Rami Malek, Jeffrey Wright, Ana de Armas, Hans Zimmer, Cory Fukunaga, Billie Eilish, and more. Each episode will explore a different aspect of No Time To Die, including characters, locations, action set pieces, score, and effects. The podcast launches on September 9th and will be available on all major podcast platforms.

The podcast trailer gives audiences a taste of what's to come in the series, including Craig sharing his thoughts on No Time to Die. "I get shot and then I get blown up. Feels like James Bond to me," says Craig. He later adds: "We were constantly adjusting and re-adjusting the script." Similarly, Rami Malek teases his mysterious villain character, known only as Safin, saying: "I looked at every villain in the history of film to prepare for this. We talked about what would be incredibly chilling and truly frightening and scary." The podcast will even explore Billie Eilish's journey making "No Time To Die", the song for the film: "We wanted to give the Bond song something I've literally never done, like ever. And we did."

With many audiences finding Spectre a slightly disappointing outing for Bond after the critically acclaimed Skyfall, No Time To Die has the opportunity to send out Craig's Bond with a bang. Although Craig's comments in the trailer about the script being constantly adjusted throughout filming may worry some listeners, it's not an uncommon practice in major Hollywood movies and, taken out of context, the quote may seem more ominous than it really is. With the podcast releasing before the actual film, it's unlikely the series will feature any major spoilers, but it will hopefully give listeners a closer look at how No Time To Die came together and the road to releasing the most anticipated James Bond movie yet.
