Jake Gyllenhaal is working on a new project with his sister Maggie Gyllenhaal. The siblings have worked together on projects before, but this will be their first collaboration since 2001's acclaimed cult picture Donnie Darko. Prior to it, they had starred alongside one another in two films directed by their father Stephen Gyllenhaal, 1993's A Dangerous Woman and 1998's Homegrown. Recently, whilst Jake has been tearing up the screen in the MCU and Antoine Fuqua's The Guilty, a remake of a Danish film, Maggie has been making her mark behind the camera, picking up an Oscar nomination for The Lost Daughter.

In an interview with InStyle Jake describes the upcoming collaboration, where he says that the two of them will be working together "just creatively, not as actors, which I'm enjoying so much." Whilst he can't explain much, he seems excited to be working alongside her again, describing her as "an incredible writer" and "an incredible filmmaker." He also describes their relationship, saying that he has basically been her "assistant" since the two of them were children and is excited to step back into that role. Read the full quote below:

Oh, wow. I mean, I don't know. We actually talk about it more now than ever, and I would love to work with her. We are working together on something right now, just creatively, not as actors, which I'm enjoying so much.

I don't think I can say yet. But, she's an incredible writer, and she's an incredible filmmaker, and I've known that for a long time. And now the world knows it. And so I would love to work with her. I'd love to act in one of her films or wherever she needs me. Since we've been kids, I've been, basically, her assistant or whatever form she needs me to be in, so I will continue to be that. I'm her little brother, and if anyone's a younger sibling, they understand what I mean.

It sounds like the as-untitled project will be an interesting marriage of minds and creative talent. Jake Gyllenhaal is now considered a Hollywood stalwart, earning a slate of awards nominations, including an Oscar nomination for his performance in Brokeback Mountain. Maggie Gyllenhaal, on the other hand, hit the ground running with The Lost Daughter and has an incredibly promising future ahead of her as a a director, along with her own Oscar nomination for Crazy Heart.
